Doubt it. Plenty of baited rat poison spread about to protect rice stores these days. Chooks find the bait as tasty as the rats and mice.
I'd be suspicious to the suggestion that this application of rat/mice poison would be widespread in numerous rural communities. Ours might be a better example of "dealing with it" - we too, have a rice shed on the principle {home} property, yet would never consider the vermin poison route, only because we also have a shiteload of chooks, ducks, and geese. Even given the fact that the varmints will find a way....

this one is logical to me as chooks are cannibals ...chances are they have been finding the deadens and having a peck

Samething happened to a house not far from mine, I used to feed the birds any sticky rice that was left over, My girlfriend said all 50 chickens had died in 2 days!I thought it was the sticky rice for a moment, but my girlfriend said it has happened before.

    "Dead 'uns"

Every single chicken, including those expensive fighting cocks, in our Issan village (of about 50 houses) has died during the last two weeks. Cause unspecified.
Today the Phuyban has distributed a, local government supplied, "chemical" spray solution to all households to disinfect their chook houses and premises.

Benifit for me is no more disturbing early morning rooster crowing and the incessant scratching of our gardens by the neighbours' former flocks.

    "Road-runner" Chooks!

Getting quite worried, I'm not gonna have anything to slag off at this rate.
What have you named this new version of the disease?

Slapisdikosis, already trade marked. A cure is "just round the corner" for your press release.

Well, they're ALL dead..every single last one of the fuckers. No more cockadoodle doing, no more shit, no more solid punts to the beak..my life is fucking pointless..I need something to slag off and quick.

There was, however, a particuarly stupid insect that was loitering around my head last night, if he shows up again tonight I'll make ALL insects public enemy numero UNO..

RIP Chickens... you really fucked me off and I don't miss you at all and basically good fucking riddance..but RIP all the same.
