A destroyed car is seen among debris as smoke rises from fuel storage tanks on fire, a day after an explosion at Amuay oil refinery in Punto Fijo in the Peninsula of Paraguana August 26, 2012. Venezuela's biggest refinery is on track to restart within two days, the energy minister said on Sunday, a day after an explosion and fire there killed 39 people in one of the global oil industry's deadliest accidents. Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez said the fire was now contained in two storage tanks, reiterating that no production units had been affected by Saturday's pre-dawn disaster at the 645,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) Amuay refinery, which sits on a peninsula in the Caribbean in western Venezuela.

Togo women call sex strike against President Gnassingbe
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2012/08/2485.jpg
Isabelle Ameganvi said holding the strike would ensure women's voices would be heard
Women in Togo have been urged to abstain from sex for a week from Monday to push their demand for reform.
The ban has been called by opposition coalition Let's Save Togo, made up of nine civil society groups and seven opposition parties and movements.
Opposition leader Isabelle Ameganvi said that sex could be a "weapon of the battle" to achieve political change.
The coalition wants President Faure Gnassingbe, whose family has held power for decades, to stand down.
"We have many means to oblige men to understand what women want in Togo," Ms Ameganvi, leader of the women's wing of the coalition, told the BBC.
She said she had been inspired by a similar strike by Liberian women in 2003, who used a sex strike to campaign for peace.
"If men refuse to hear our cries we will hold another demonstration that will be more powerful than a sex strike," she added.
Rumour is that they may refuse to do the washing up next - something that serious could lead to a revolution :)

Australia's era of flipping houses in a rising market is well and truly over with the latest data showing homes are now changing hands at the slowest pace since at least 2000. House owners now stay put for nine years on average, according to data to March gathered by property research group RP Data. That's up from an average of 7.6 years at the turn of the century.
The longer hold period is the latest sign that Australia's residential property is in a funk. Data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics released yesterday showed housing starts - a forward looking indicator of building - plunged 12.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2012 - far outstripping the 2.3 per cent fall anticipated by analysts. Capital city home prices in May were 5.5 per cent lower than a year earlier, according to RP Data.
