Boston University manager in Facilities Management and Planning and beekeeper William Murray removes a chair covered in a swarm of bees at the Boston University commencement 2012 in Boston, Mass., May 20.
From the University of Nebraska's Entomology Department:
Honey bee swarms are a favorite topic of people who make horror movies. Actually, they are one of the most beautiful and interesting phenomena in nature. A swarm starting to issue is a thrilling sight. A swarm may contain from 1,500 to 30,000 bees including, workers, drones, and a queen. Swarming is an instinctive part of the annual life cycle of a honey bee colony. It provides a mechanism for the colony to reproduce itself.

Strauss-Kahn faces 'gang rape' inquiry
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2012/05/2203.jpg
A French prosecutor has ordered an initial inquiry into claims that ex-IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn was involved in "gang rape" in Washington.
The allegations come from a Belgian prostitute who said she was at a hotel sex party in the city in December 2010.
Mr Strauss-Kahn, 63, is already under investigation with three other men over their alleged roles in a prostitution ring. He denies the allegations.
A charge that he attempted to rape a US hotel maid was dropped last year.
But the case put an end to Mr Strauss-Kahn's career at the International Monetary Fund and dashed his hopes of running as Socialist candidate for the French presidency.
In March, prosecutors in the northern French city of Lille placed him under formal investigation in connection with what has become known as the Carlton affair, after the Lille hotel in which several orgies are alleged to have taken place.

Niagara Falls emergency officials rescue a man who plunged over the falls in an apparent suicide attempt on May 21, 2012.
Reuters reports — A man survived a 174-foot plunge over Niagara's Horseshoe Falls on Monday but sustained life-threatening injuries, Canadian police said.
The man, whose name has not been released, became only the third person known to have lived through a fall over the massive cataract without safety devices.
Canada's Niagara Parks Police said witnesses reported seeing the man climb over a retaining wall about 20 feet above the brink of the falls at mid-morning and deliberately jump into the swift waters.
He surfaced a few seconds later in the lower Niagara River Basin below, near an observation platform, police said.
He "was located by a Niagara Parks Police officer along the rocky shoreline as he collapsed in waters that were up to the subject's waist," police said in a statement.

Deadly train crash in south India's Andhra Pradesh
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2012/05/2298.jpg
At least 24 people were killed and 25 injured when a passenger train collided with a goods train in India's Andhra Pradesh state.
The Bangalore-bound Hampi Express crashed into the stationary goods train at Penneconda railway station early on Tuesday, a railway spokesperson said.
Four coaches were derailed and one of them caught fire, reports say.
Train accidents in India have killed 1,220 people over the past five years, railway officials recently revealed.
The immense railway network connects every corner of the country, operating 9,000 passenger trains a day, carrying some 18 million people.
"Sixteen people died in the fire which broke out in one of the coaches of the train," police chief of Anantapur district Charu Singh told the BBC.
A railway official said most of the victims were labourers who were travelling to Bangalore from Bellary and Hospet in neighbouring Karnataka state.
Durga Das, a senior official of Anantapur district where the incident happened, said 18 passengers had been rescued from the Hampi Express. Rescue workers fear that more passengers may be trapped in the train.
