A bird keeper found herself with an unusual roommate when she decided to hand-rear an owl chick from birth. Jade Stott, 27, took the tawny frogmouth home with her in order to help it grow after its parents struggled to look after all their eggs. The species is known as skunks of the air as they are able to let off a strong foul smell over wide areas in order to ward off predators. Jades little chick, now named Murray, weighed just 21 grams at birth was totally dependent on Jade in its first few weeks and had to be fed every two hours. The feathered ball of fluff now weighs 231 grams and has made its first tentative steps outside but its too early to tell whether its a boy or a girl.
