A Watchkeeper WK450 flies over the UK during a test flight. Watchkeeper is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for all weather, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR). The army's newest unmanned aircraft will take to UK skies soaring at 16,000 feet to capture images of the countryside below. The 'spy in the sky' drone can fly for longer than unmanned planes currently used by the British Army in Afghanistan, and will provide clearer pictures to troops on the ground. The Watchkeeper aircraft - which has a 33 foot wingspan - has been tested in Wales since 2010 and will soar into restricted airspace over Wiltshire. The impressive vehicle can fly for 16 hours, sending back real-time images to on-ground pilots controlling the aircraft more than 150km away. It is expected after MoD trails finish the pilotless surveillance aircraft - which boasts better cameras and sensors than previous models - will be deployed this Summer
