Thanks both for the above comments ^ yes you are absolutely correct Wills ,, it has proved popular on other sites , no one else has mentioned that but you are absolutely spot on .
This kinda feedback is very helpful to me and I really have to sort my shit out if I’m gonna progress .
In future I’m going to do some thumbnail sketches to work out composition better before whacking the paint on

Another work in progress job here ,, much larger than of late and back on mdf to go in a frame I have just refurbished

I wasn’t happy with the positioning of those two big trees in the middle , so I wiped away with some turps and reinstated with a gap between them Attachment 99392
Then I mixed up some warm and cool greys for the trunks and began to map out what I had in mind ,, not very happy with the result ,, will adjust when it’s dried a bit , it’s come out too dark Attachment 99393

Here we are tbh I’m beginning to loose the will to live with this one , my bleathuritus has flared up in my left eye and left it badly infected all week so I’ve been struggling to paint with one eye .
Here it is “ jewels of spring “ oil on mdf ,, I think about 17” by 14” if I remember correctly ,, sitting in a frame that I have lovingly restored ,, I really hope this one goes and hangs on someone else’s wall

Just a quick report back on yesterdays visit ,, absolutely superb and a fantastic morning followed by a delicious coffee in their new cafe.
Our free tickets gave us full access to all the buildings and exhibitions
I was amazed how totally engrossed Jan was in it all as we was in there 1.40 mins
Highly recommended if anyone is in the areas

You may remember a little while back I did a small pastel sketch of one of the pollarded trees by the Stour at Dedham , I was then asked to do a larger oil of the same subject ,this one is 14” by 11” oil on mdf in an old frame I have restored and repainted .

Done nothing but rain and freezing bloody cold all week ,, so a cold windy Walton expressed simply with a very grey limited pallete
