Well I have decided I don't want to wait any longer, my Apple retailer in tuc. com. could not deliver from the last batch he claimed came to Bangkok, he has all along offered me my deposit money back 38.000 B, but is now stringing me along a bit, should have had the money yesterday but now he is saying Friday, I will be cool about it a bit longer before blowing a fuse it is Thailand after all.
So in the meantime I have put an order in for the 27 inch i5 on Apple online Thailand and ordered the iWork at the same time, I have received the iWork already and the computer is planned for shipping on the 28/1 with delivery on the 5/2.
So now we will see how that works out.-

Apple's first Mac OS X security update for 2010 is out, providing cover for at least 12 serious vulnerabilities.
The update, rated critical, plugs security holes that could lead to code execution vulnerabilities if a Mac user is tricked into opening audio files or surfing to a rigged Web site.
With Security Update 2010-001, Apple also fixes flaws in the Adobe Flash Player plug-in that ships with the operating system.
I hate to say it but ... :mid:Quote:

Bur everyone to his own, so far I'm very happy with Mac OS X.
There is a major Apple Event next 27 January, probably presenting the iSlate Mac tablett and maybe a new version of iWork and iLife ? Do you ask the Applestore about it ?Quote:

But wait, it gets better. While you poor Windows saps are struggling with vulnerabilities that have been around for 17 YEARS, there is this:
"An advisory from Apple (here) provides full details of the runners and riders contained in the update batch. Apple - unlike Microsoft, Adobe and Oracle - issues patch batches as and when they are needed rather than on a regular pre-announced monthly or quarterly schedule.
Bi-monthly updates from Apple are about par. Typically these updates are applied in the background and applied painlessly after Mac fans reboot their systems."
It was a 22MB download for me. A quick reboot and I was back at work.
I have a newly installed (2 months) Windows XP Pro comp at an office. I have never used it for web surfing or email or anything. It is only used to access a property management system that needs Windows to run. After only 2 months, without me ever plugging in a USB drive or using a CD or anything it started kicking up AVG alerts about downadup/conficker. AVG was configured with all the default protections etc turned on, and nobody else has use of the machine.
I won't say that Mac is more secure than Windows, I'd say that ANYTHING is more secure than using some aging, bodged together OS from a company known for ripping of technologies and ideas rather than ever managing to innovate anything really.

/Although MS did manage to make a pretty good wireless mouse back in the day.
Agreed. At least Apple take the trouble to actually (continually) update their software, and are proactive in doing so. Sure, there may be the occasional instance where their OS needs a patch, but importantly they react, unlike Microsoft who seem to bury their heads in the sand until a problem becomes a crisis.
MS don't bury their heads in the sand until a problem becomes a crisis, they create the problems with bullshiat like ActiveX and the registry and allowing an integrated browser to make system wide configuration changes.Quote:

agree, but their user interface rules, and since the majority of users are morons anyhow, they don't deserve security or a good OS, they will be happy with anything as long as it has a nice interface, so at the end it doesn't really matter :)Quote:

Plenty of Apple updates that went very very wrong.Quote:

Today Apple is supposed to ship the iMac but no movement so far on the Apple online order status page where you can follow your order, I am halfway expecting them to push the delivery further but we'll see.:)
forget the iMac, order the iPAD :pQuote:

No, I defer to your undoubted superior knowledge.
There's been further delays due to the weird screen flicker issue. It's not affecting everyone, but they have been holding back shipments until it is resolved. Basically, they don't want to ship any dodgy Macs. Expect a delay....I'm still holding off on purchasing until this is sorted.
Oh my God another shit toy for iTards to bore us silly with.....
Of course you could have bought an ASUS eee TOP a year ago and not made such a tit of yourselves.
