^ darn, I guess I need to be more subtle w/ my hints.
out of camera: no
after post-production: yes
I personally don't believe in heavy photoshopping to achieve a "film look," but that's just me.
I'm going digital for the obvious reasons, the main one is I'm in Thailand, & I think there are so many interesting things to take pictures of.
The BIG box I have full of negatives from 4 months of shooting is a concern, so I need to go digital to maintain my habit, but not to build up anymore boxes.
I still believe film looks more beautiful, but the photographer's eye, luck, creativity, & passion is more important than any piece of hardware. IMHO.

bustak, i love your pictures, especially the colours are amazing, so warm, so welcoming.. even if the subject of the pictures is not always interesting to me, i just cant tear my eyes off the colours the film cameras produce. great job and i hope even after you get your digital canon wonder you keep shooting film now and then.
i went digital a long time ago, still got my old nikon f70 though, and when i look at your pics i get the urge to get it out of the closet and start shooting film again
^ hey thanks for the kind words!
yes, film is so beautiful, I snapped some black & whites last week & after I got them developed I wondered if I could ever exclusively go digital.
I'll probably sell the Canon AE-1p & buy a Canon wide-angle USM lens w/ the money, but I'm still keeping my Lomo LC-A*, that is my pocket camera. She's little, fast & beautiful.

Is this a reasonable camera?
Nikon D200 DSLR Camera For Sale The camera is less than 2 years old and still in perfect condition. The price I paid is $2,400 and I will let it go for $1,600 (non-negotiable) and includes:

Its a wonderful camera but it's not being used. It would make a great gift for a hobbyist or professional. The price is non nego because I believe its already a more than fair price. If you are interested please contact me.
the D200 is a good camera, that's more than my budget allows.
its possibly a little steep for my budget also...Originally Posted by bustak

^ you can get the new Canon Rebel w/ more accessories for a lot less cash.
If you want to get into SLR/dSLR photography you need to figure out which company you want to go with, I picked Canon.
I have 2 Canon HDV cameras, a little point & shoot digital & soon a Canon dSLR. I like the look, the build & price of Canon products, nothing really scientific.
The nice thing about Canon & I'm sure Nikon is that the entry level dSLRs use the same lenses as their hi-so cameras, so if I get a better camera, my collection of lenses will still work. So the lenses you buy are more important that the actual body in some cases, because you'll use those for a lot longer than the actual camera.
Just my $.02.
So what do you want for the AE-1? The camera body is all I need.
^ Sorry, I'm not going to sell the body alone.
I'll sell the camera w/ 2 lenses, a case & a few rolls of Lucky film. I think it'd be better to sell this as a package. There's a pretty popular (in Thai) film photography forum, I'll put it up on there [at] the end of this month/early September.
So what are the lenses and how much?
^ a 50mm f/1.4 & 28mm f/2.8 (which you already have).
Since I bought this stuff in the US, & it costs more in Thailand, I'll pad the price 1,500b. I want to use the money to buy a wide angle lens for my dSLR.
so the 2 lenses, body, 5 rolls of Lucky film & case that fits around your neck. I paid roughly 8,500 baht for all of this, so I'll put it up for 10,000b* + 400b for shipping to anywhere in Thailand.
You have a bunch of lenses, you'd be best to buy the body on eBay.
* I've seen some beat up SLRs in Thailand for that price.
it's going to be hard to part w/ the AE-1p, took this photo this morning:
Nice pics, good clarity
Sorry Bustak, my mistake

talking about DSLR's: im taking most of my pictures on my Lumix FZ7 cam, and was wondering recently if i actually need to snap at 7mpx res, when all i do with pictures is check them on my laptop and then resize to something like 800x600 and post them online. if i use 2-3mpx res on the cam, would it deliver same quality when i resize the pics to smaller size or it would be visible that not all sensors on the chip were used to take the pic?
^ take yor pictures at the higest res you can you can alwsy compres, cut & crop but you can never get back what you never had.
don't ever let the truth get in the way of one of eli's wild assumptions.
Bustak have not read all the posts so maybe missed it, do all the lenses for an AE..1 work on a Canon digital SLR?
oldgit, the ones for the AE1 will NOT work on a digital unless you have an adapter for this purpose and then the digital has to be manually focused. I haven't seen an adapter yet. The reason even my EOS Rebel got broken is because an FD lens was used on it and broke the shutter.

You can get this adapter off of the web for around 1500b:
Canon FD Lens to EOS EF Body Mount Adapter
Haven't used it, thought about getting it, but I'd rather get a new lens.
The lenses I have for my AE-1 aren't worth the trouble, I want to sell them & put the cash towards a USM lens for my Canon dSLR.
no problem, you could green me to off-set the red.
