Chiang Mai through a Russian lens

Yesterday I finally received a LOMO LC-A I ordered from the Ukraine. Here's a brief history of LOMO & the LC-A:
    his_cam

It was manufactured in 1987 in the beautiful Russian city of St.Petersburg.

Here's a picture I took of my new love:

    Here's a few grabs I've taken w/ it:

^ I know, my mirror is filthy.

^ Is that a bin full of specimens?

^I ran in to these monks at the mall near my home. They were on their way to bless a new store.

^ I took this picture w/ a flash & a slow shutter speed. When the flash finally went off I moved the camera down capturing the students feet.

    ^ 3 generations

    Hope you'll enjoy these.

Thanks for the kind words (again). These pictures mean a lot to me, I'm happy to see other people like them too.

Funny MtD, when I was taking these pictures I thought I saw you, I called out your name "MtD" & you/he didn't answer.

You can only set the aperture when you use the flash & you set it according to how far you are from the subject & how fast the film is. Tonight I did some tests w/ a flash, we'll see how those come out.

But the "auto" setting is pretty good, this little wonder does a nice job in low-light situations w/ no flash!

I must mention I shoot 99% of my 35mm stuff w/ Lucky 200 asa film, giving it those bright colors. Here's some info on Lucky film:
    CHINA LUCKY

I found someone in Taiwan that ships fast & cheap to Thailand, so I buy from this cat all the time.

It's funny, the last day of Songkran I was drunk as F*CK on white whiskey, so what did I do? Well I didn't hook up w/ a ladyboy, I didn't get in to a fight, I didn't buy an elephant. I stumbled over to my neighborhood internet cafe & bought 5000 baht (60 rolls) worth of Lucky film! I woke up the next morning w/ my head spinning, & my first thought was "did I buy something on eBay?" I'm truely a F*CKING geek!

I should also mention in photoshop I usually just down res the pictures & sometimes add a sharp filter, that's it. These images are pretty much out of camera.

Hopefully it doesn't rain too much tomorrow, I'm off from work & I really want to push this camera, take some B&Ws too.

Thanks again for the kind words.

    Really

do enjoy your photos, been admiring them for awhile. I have a new Canon 7mp. One of those that are supposed to be easy. Well hell I did not do well with the book. I did get it set to some kind of auto. settings to work. Wish I had you to show me how to?

I will be in CM in Aug. after a stop off to Uttaradit on 23 July upon our arrival.

How are you developing them? Are you getting the shops to use slide fluid for normal film?

You do know you can buy the same sort of cameras of ebay for half the price on Lomo.com

I want one but have been told that devloping is really expensive here.

Also get on ebay and buy bulk out of date film. Again a fucking lot cheaper than lomography.

You can pick up a Helga or thereabouts for fuck all on there and a mix bag of old film for peanuts

yeah, I buy most of my film stuff from eBay. My LOMO came from an eBay store in the Ukraine.

Yeah, I have local shops in CM develop my photos, I've had some cross processing done, but I prefer natural colors, so 99.9% of the time it's standard processing.

Film is expensive as hell, especially the 120mm stuff that comes out of the HOLGA 120. The 35mm pictures cost roughly 4 baht a photo. The good to bad picture ratio is huge, I can get a role w/ 30/39 keepers, & other days I get maybe 5, so financially this is hitting me hard. But it is really full filling & there are other vices in Thailand that can be more expensive & dangerous.

    ♥ m o r e l o m o s ♥

    some more pictures:

    ^
    Q (from me) :
    Wanna grab some coffee?

    A (from her):
    No thanks.

^ a few photos taken at McCormick Hospital in CM.

^ it's been raining a lot in Chiang Mai.

^ I used a 400 baht HOLGA flash on this one.

^ can you spot the fighter jet over Wat Suan Dauk?

    ^
I see this woman panhandling w/ her children in front of a fancy hotel all the time.

As I was leaning over to put some change (10 baht) into a cup, I snapped a picture. As you can see my hand got into the shot.

I'm not sure if this is a good, or a bad accident.

I wish my hand didn't get in the way, the framing would of been perfect. I would of liked the mother's face in the photo.

But I still think it's an interesting picture.

^ I went there when I was in Pattaya, it was boring & expensive as hell! It was a bunch of Russian & Japanese guys sitting around drinking hi-so booze w/ rude & unattractive women from the eBlock & Africa.

Over all I didn't dig Pattaya, Jomtien was OK.
