Are any international airlines flying into Chiang Mai regularly now?

I’m starting to look at airline tickets from the USA and I have a small problem, my dog. She’s a chihuahua and I will be carrying her in the cabin. Looks as though all the international flights are coming in through Bangkok and switching to a Thai carrier. That doesn’t work for me because the Thai domestic carriers don’t allow my dinky doggy in the cabin.

Anyone know of any international flights directly into Chiang Mai now or anytime in the next couple of months?

No direct to CM flights as far as I know and yes, domestics make you put pets in baggage.

I know will add 7 hrs to an already long trip but your best option is land transport.

The Company reserves the right not to allow the passenger to bring any pet on board in any case except for the pet which has been trained to take care of disable person.

Problem: Organizers at the event my daughter wanted to attend before visiting us would not permit dogs. However, “Service Dogs” were.

Solution: Amazon and two days, she has a service dog.

^ seems like your best bet MK from what i can find out. A day or so in BKK to get over the flight and a leisurely trip up. I doubt you'll get away with a chihuahua as a dog for the blind or knock her out and wear her like a stole.

Added: Aha, some bullshit maybe required. Unless it really is a service or emotional support chihuahua.

Scoot does not permit any type of live animal to fly in the cabin of its aircraft with the exception of service animals assisting a passenger with a physical or hearing impairment. Emotional support dogs are also permitted on flights departing from and arriving to the United States. Your service or emotional support dog cannot occupy a seat, and must be placed in a location that does not block escape routes in case of an emergency.
Notice must be provided with flying with a service or emotional support dog by notifying the Scoot Service Center.

Car rental one way for a day about 5k baht.

you could overnight it on the train, not done it in years but buy a cabin to yourself and they introduced new sleeper cars in 2016 on train number 9 leaving 6pm ish gets you to CM 07.15.

Did overnight train in 2018. The train left BKK atound 7 or 8 pm and arrived in CM 10-11 am. It was a pleasant ride and I was able to sleep well. It was on 2nd class, I think - the train had A/C. I didn't have my own cabin but the beds had curtains for privacy. Didn't see pets so I don't know if they're allowed - maybe if you had your own cabin?

Used to live that. Took the evening train from Chumphon to BKK. Sat in the dining cart with the window down and the Forest Gump soundtrack on my headphones. Wonderful.

Back when i used to smoke, i loved the BKK to Chumphon train too. The last carriage frequently had an area reserved for Monks but you could walk through and i used to sit on the back of the train legs dangling having a smoke and chugging cold tins of Chang that the hawkers used to peddle walking up and down the train - just chill out and watch the countryside go by at 55Km/H or whatever the ridiculously soporific speed they do on that single track was.

The seats are invariably rock hard in 3rd and if you dosed off you could wake to find yourself surrounded by a gaggle of toothless crones or school girls giggling at you OR boxed in by piles of produce, or Sa'tor as was the case with me that some grandad is hoping to peddle in BKK and they let him off the cargo charge.

Beer on Thai Trains one of my favourite things now consigned to history sadly.

A young SRT employee was a bit yabba'd up on his night shift and got a bit rapey-rapey-killy-killy with an 8 year old girl before throwing her body off the train.

The obvious solution to having a yabba'd up staff member going all rapey-killy is to ban all customers from being able to sit with a beer as the swerving pickups roll by.

I'm pretty sure Korean Air is flying direct to Chiang Mai as I have been just looking for flight options home.

They allow dogs onboard as well.
