Yep... thats it, Norton.
The top is galaxy granite, and I would be happy with the concrete carcasses as long as he could recreate that same sort of wooden 'front' to the kitchen units. i.e. doors butting up together all the way along and no big gaps revealing wood facings, the concrete or tiles.
I have an idea for the layout (front view) but it would need careful measuring of the concrete, and probably some thinner construction too.
I am not sure if it can be done....
TD whilst concrete is cheap and durable you are going to have the problem of its chunky nature which yes you can hide but what about the internals? concrete bases, then you'll not want the bottoms bare and so tiles? which unless you get them in a size to fit the depth and "unit" width will look shit.
You could lay in a base like a worktop to give a seamless surface on the bottom and use a teak batten to face off either faced particle board or top quality ply as the unit dividers - the batten can support the cupboard door hinges with cupboard doors either bought from a flat pack type kitchen supplier or get them bespoke in your hardwood of choice.
It depends on the finish you want to achieve - KPot may not be able to deliver in this area as its not really his specialism and you'll kick yourself if you get a fred flintstone kitchen in your lanna country house - you my have to look elsewhere.
You also have a cabinet cue in style from your wall design outside - why not bring this inside in real wood?
So many options NPK... you hit the nail on the head.
I am looking for something that externally looks like that picture posted by Norton, but of course the insides matter too.
I know a 'little' bit about joinery but not sure if I want to tackle this as, as you say, it could ruin everything.
We have a price for n all-wood option from the sawmill place and it is reasonable, but agreeing the final design might bump that up and I am not sure they include every design element that I want.
its fairly basic and of course does not include appliances or worktops
The concrete option has benefit for longevity if we get any of those ' lil' chewers' in looking for a wood banquet.
if I could be sure I could 'face' the concrete so that it looked like the kitchen units in Norton's photo, I could probably sort out the cupboard interiors myself.
I think it would need careful measuring to make sure the carcass lined up with standard drawer and door width sizes, unless I had them made (but who wants a kitchen with unequal door fronts just to fit the carcass!?)
We will have one and we will use it.
It gets all the plates / cups / pans sterile clean. dries it all too
Hand washing cannot always do this, as the water is not that hot as in the dishwasher, and the wash time per item is a lot less.
Of course, a dishwasher has to be maintained, whether it be auto or manual!
I would pass on concrete cabinets. There are plenty of very good cabinet makers in Thailand. Bet you wouldn't have to look hard to find one in your area. Check at the lumber yard you bought your flooring.
Yes - it s them gave us the quote for a general idea on a 'kitchen. was not unreasonable (lol unlike Bunthavorn who solemnly told us, after taking my design plan and giving back my design plan s their design that it would cost 1.3 MILLION for average (ready crap) cabinets with wooden fronts NOT INCLUDING appliances)
I expect Mr Sawmill will raise the price once i firm up the design and complexity of what i want
I agree.
With the investment you've made already go bespoke. There is even an argument to be made for a bespoke kitchen built and fitted in a way you could easily remove and take with you should you decide to move again - if you get one built with high quality wood, it'll withstand time and you like its design of fab then why not build in the ability to take it away - just a thought.
Indeed. A friend has KITZCHO looks and functions great.
No problem with oak kitchen (just not tidy enough...)

For a Thai kitchen it is extremely neat n tidy. Every sq cm of my kitchen counter top is filled. Waste not want not. :)

This is the first coat of course... more to come!!
I have to admit that I have got some helpers...
The helpers are doing something right!
I took at that website. link you sent me - all v interesting.
Bit quiet at the moment though the 4 of them are plodding on and now the painter will shortly be in attendance.
I hear they are about to start tiling the main bathroom so pictures will shortly follow.
I am on a 4-day break due to UAE National day - thanks v much Dubai!
Has anyone ever tried to do an epoxy stone effect worktop?
No...not for the kitchen as epoxy is not heat resistant... i was thinking for some of the bathroom shelving.
watched a few YouTube videos, esp the ones making it look like marble and black granite - very good stuff
...but how easy to do in reality?
^Sometimes it was rather SnowWhite and the seven dwarfs...
