    Dentists in Bangkok?

I'm hoping to visit Bangkok in the near future to go to the dentist, because it is cheaper than dentistry here in China. Do you have any recommendations on dentists you have used with good results? I realize there are many dentists in Bangkok, but I'm looking more for personal recommendations.

    Thanks

2nd floor Future Park Rangsit, Like Clinic. They also have one in Rama 9 and Silom. This is only one option anyway, sure you may get more.

Just had 2 teeth rebuilt and fillings, roughly all in 3600, and Cool light bleaching is 2999 Baht, normally around 4500 everywhere.

Websites only Thai though. But pop in and they speak english. You can google others. Dr Mos is good, they have 2 locations around Ramkhamhaeng, had an extraction here for 1000 Baht, but starts at 600 up.

Was well happy with both places. Special offers at both too.

    Thanks DJ and Farangthai...

I was reading that this place is highly recommended on the internet. I like a more central location.

    I'll check these locations.
I probably need a few fillings and perhaps a crown.

I was reading about this new ZOOM teeth whitening that looks interesting. I had laser whitening in Bangkok about 8 years ago, but this looks a bit different.

This would be my choice as well. The family were regular attendees when living in Bangkok.

I received an e-mail from them just this week stating that the move/construction will be completed by mid-March.

The last place I would recommend is the Dental Hospital on Suk soi 49, they charged me 6k for one front filling a few years ago and piled on pressure to have me agree to 'urgent' work I still have manged not to have done. Mahidol is cheap and good, but even they wanted to do work not needed. Now I go to a small place over on Rama 2, big posh places and Hospital dentists are always a lot more. My place charged me 6k last year for a replacement crown and 500 baht for a good clean and check, speaks good English as well. Probably too far but you will pay over the odds around Suk for sure.

the sukhumvit soi 49 dental hospital is one of the best dental clinics in the country.

it is very expensive, but their dentists are excellent and extremely thorough in their examination, diagnosis and treatments.

if you need extensive and complicated treatment, then that would be my first port of call.
once armed with a diagnosis and treatment plan, you can always take that knowledge elsewhere and compare costs, methods and materials used if implants or crown and bridge work are involved etc.

if you need only routine small to medium sized fillings, scalings and simple endodontics, then most clinics should be able to provide good treatment.

larger fillings, especially on posterior teeth need careful assessment and a patient dentist who will work slowly and methodically to obtain an optimum end result. a poorly designed and placed large restoration in a posterior tooth will fail prematurely nearly always necessitating expensive crown work, and possible endodontic work too.

it is always a problem for the dentally uninformed to distinguish between being prescribed more treatment than necessary as opposed to being prescribed work that might seem unnecessary at the time but if carried out now will prevent future problems and expense.

an experienced dentist will usually predict future problems and if they do not inform the patient of their findings and suspicions and make a recommendation to either treat or wait, then they are failing in their ethical duty. it is then up to the patient to make an informed decision whether to go ahead with the dentists recommendations or not.

that is why personal recommendations are so valuable when choosing a professional in any field.

i have had good dental treatment at RSU dental centre, but i have not needed anything more than basic dentistry. (small filling replacement, scaling, a troublesome wisdom tooth surgically removed)

Old fillings drilled out from the front after 20yrs. I broke 3 front teeth badly in 1997 falling into a wall. British fillings fell apart after 4yrs. Had them redone in Lat Phrao that time and asked for the hardest muthafuckin' filling they had. Nothing wrong with it til now, but my teeth went yellow from smoking for so long.

Had the whitening done but the fillings don't whiten, only the teeth so now I got yellow fillings showing on lovely white teeth, right at the front. So had all that redone to match up the colour. Last one was done on thursday.

Of course one of the dentists I had tried to sell me root canal treatment and the most expensive crown.

I am getting a front crown done too, but in April when I'm back.

BTW the cool light whitening is better than the Laser one, and cheaper, and you're not sensitive for 3 days after.

why did the dentist "try to sell" root canal treatment and a crown. what problems were you having that necessitated such treatment.

I've heard this.. I had the laser one and my teeth were very sensitive and hurt like heck.
I may try the light whitening one, have you had it done?

Also wondering if I should book far in advance or if I can get an appointment a day or two in advance. I'll be there in April.

He just told me I should have it before filling out the last tooth. And then told me 5 seconds later it would cost 6000 Baht. This was even without an xray first

Dr Mos clinic is doing it for 3500 Baht. It was an easy process. An hour total. A good clean beforehand cost 600

Geez, amazing how cheap dentistry is there in Thailand. I was just talking to a dentist here today and he told me it could cost between $100-300 dollars just for consultation and x-rays. I may as wait a month and a half to do it in Thailand.

That's what I pay for teeth cleaning. 600 bht (current)

    Great value.

Crowns were cira 7,000 - 12,000 Bht. (Two years ago)

Cheaper for the molars, more and a different crown for the incisors.

Had some artificial teeth. 32,000 Bht (from memory ... 5-7 years ago)
Two visits required, about 3 months apart.

    No idea about teeth whitening.
