Flights Bkk-Lhr in July. Advice please.

I might be flying back to London in early July for a week or so; haven't done that trip in 10 years, so am rather out of the loop.

Any suggestions? I prefer a direct flight if possible. Not sure yet if I'm paying for meself or the job is paying for me. If I'm paying then I'd like to keep the cost down; 40k? Is 30k possible?

Back in the day... Eva Air were the cheapest and quite decent. How about nowadays? Where would you suggest a good place to book is? Some online websites seem to be very expensive...

can be online or your friendly travel agent, the latter is often less hassle and just as cheap

if you are just going for a short time, as they say, the Thai often have some good offers

EVA in general are a little cheaper

you may get a bargain with Quantas/BA

cheapish fares are around B40k if you can find them

Thanks be care though direct means staying on the same craft but being in transit somewhere. I think you want non stop. Be careful as well as the service and fuel charges could well be almost as much as the ticket itself.

Yes, that's correct, however Thai Airways are on there for 40,000 baht and British Airways for under 44000 which are both non stop

Stopovers aren't too bad, all the airports have bars, and Duty free is cheap as chips.

Would not risk Kingfisher they are in big financial trouble if you have to fly indirect fly Etihad or Jet Airways usually the cheapest option.As for BA,EVA,Thai and the rest prices about the same at the moment.
Might be expensive in July,Olympic Games 27 July plus the kids will be on holiday.

That's what I'm trying to avoid really; also I take Zanax and get pissed (not too much, don't bother other passengers...) because I truly hate flying... Thus, I was thinking that Thai, BA/Quantas and Eva were about me only options. A flight to Paris or Brussels would be okay too, as: 1) I can get a train... 2) I could visit some realatives in Europe (also by train - but I suspect that train costs have gone crazy... I once looked for a train from Madrid or Barcelona, can't remember, to either Paris or Brussels, was travelling around Europe with a g/f, and the train prices were over 100 pounds, wellover; ended up paying 15 pounds, including all taxes, to fly with Virgin!).

I'll check out the flights on the web then pop to a travel agent. I have to do some business between the 10th and 12th, so even flying in on the 9th and out on the 12th would be fine; also could stay longer and visit relatives in London and Spain, don't mind either way...

Basically, my initial findings say 950 quid or 46,000 baht. BA, Quantas, Thaiair and ebookers all had the same prices. You can save maybe 150 pounds by fuking around with Jetair or some such crap, but I'd rather not. I could consider a KLM (only had bad experiences with this airline though; promised meself I'd never fly with them or their useless US partners again...), SAS or Finnair, and saave 100 quid, but is that worth it?

Time to check out the tour companies and see what they have to offer.

As an aside, how the world changes... I used to travel loads, and the airlines were very different, clearly now they are all nicely locked together... Also, I've done maybe 10 plus return trips to thailand and the prices were always between 500 and 650 quid. Not any more...

I think I'm gonna piss around looking at flights to Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, etc, just to see the cost similarity - might be worth going to one of these because me parents live close to Valencia, so I could visit them too, maybe...

Return to Paris with Thaiair is 38,000 baht; Eurostar is 4000 baht return = 42,000 baht.
Return to Frankfurt is 39,500 baht with Thaiair, should be very easy to get a plane to London and Valencia from there.

But, none of these fairs save any total money, and they add time and grief... Maybe 43,000 baht or 890 pounds with Eva is the best option.

^ fuk, that's cheap - I saw Finair for about 780 squid on Ebookers. I'm gonna check out the Finnair flight now. I vaguely remember flying with them once before and thought they were fine.

Just checked their website = 37,165 baht or 780 squid. Not bad, but not 500 squid!

moxtravel are ok, and Ive cancelled flights with them and got the refund without having to get arsy with the.

The problem with EVA and KLM to a lesser degree are has hard as nails when it comes to being over your baggage allowance, and seem to regard gouging you as an important profit centre.

The thai planes are tired and old, but they do have a couple more inches of leg space which can make a big difference. But I would suggest one thing to you, as someone who has a big bias to direct flights, Given you only do long haul ever 10 years and if you go with someone like emirates, you can do the flight for just an extra 3 hours, save a reasonable amount of money and get a decent baggage allowance for the return trip
