A timeless classic. The guitar run at the beginning ranks right up there as one of the most recognized tunes ever. Amazing vocals about nefarious temptations, first played in the 1920s

Beyonce ......... black and white film noir-inspired video
From the album "Secrets" 1996.......A whiny, need-you-back heartbreak song - we've all had these moments. Toni sings it exceptionally well.
wot no Thai? this song by Ying lee will sweep the awards up next year, 60 million hits is very good for a Thai singer. She's from Buri Ram and has the double tooth and ladyboy brother to prove it. Magnificent song:
Sexy

Elegance and grace surrounds this lady.
One of the biggest stars of the Luktung music scene in Thailand is Tai Orathai.
Thai Orathai, born Orathai Kapdam on March 27th 1980 in the Thailand Province of Ubon Ratchathani has a beautiful and melodic singing voice that has made her popular not only in Thailand but also in the United States and Europe where she has toured several times.
Tai Orathai ( ต่าย อรทัย) was the oldest of 5 children and was brought up by her Grandmother. During her final year in Junior School she got her first opportunity to sing on stage in front of other people at a Children’s Day concert at her school and many people were so impressed they gave her 5 and 10 Baht tips.
Many times she traveled up to 100k from her village to attend talent competitions where she was very successful and on one occasion won a bicycle as first prize. it was not until Tai met the songwriter and teacher Sala Khunawut who encouraged her to continue with Luktung that Tai made the decision to try to make a career in Luktung. Life was not easy for Tai as she tried to combine her love for singing with her scholastic studies whilst having to support her Grandmother and her brothers and sisters. Her big break came when she reached the final round of a TV singing contest ‘Chumtangsiangtong’ and was signed up by Grammy, who arranged lessons for her with the well known singing teacher Pairat Churat.
Tai Orathai’s 1st Album was ‘Dok Yah Nai Pah Poon’ (grass flower in a concrete forest) which was written for her by Sala Khunawut and Sawat Sarakham which included the hit song ‘Tho ma hah nae der’ (Please phone me). Singing in a mixture of Isaan and Lao languages, Tai Orathai has released several albums since those early days and is now one of the greatest talents in Luktung music.
Tai Orathai was the first Luktung singer to sell over 1 million Albums.

Where did you get that on Tai from, it's a bit mixed up from what I know. She did indeed enter many competitions but the only one I have heard that she won was where she won the bike. She came to Samut Prakan after leaving School to work with her mum washing clothes for building site workers and after that in one of the many pharmaceutical factories there. On Sundays she used to go to the talent competition at the crocodile farm, but never won even going for months, in the end they gave her a free ticket. She did indeed get through on chumtang seang tong but did not win that either. Her weakness has always been a lack of stage presence and withdrawn, un expressive nature. The turning point for her was meeting songwriter Sala Khunawut, a lot more to the story there. Iv'e seen her about 50 times I guess over the years, great recording artist but not great on stage. They have tried to liven her up a bit more recently giving her dancing lessons and she does come across better than she did.
She is not the premier luktung singer at Grammy these days, that's Takkedan Cholada.
I just remembered she was spotted at the croc farm by a DJ, cannot recall the name, who encouraged her to go in for chum tang. I cannot recall ever seeing the film of her on that show though, if anybody knows where it can be found I'd love to see it.
Most of the above is from an interview she gave 2 or 3 years back to a posh Thai magazine, i'll have a look for it.
Sept 10 2010 concert

Here you go.... Luktung - Tai Orathai | Thai Guide To Thailand
Ah yes I remember seeing it before, sites like that just copy from other sources without checking or doing any research themselves.
This site is great as you can download the tracks, some rare ones. Peter is a young American guy and really knows what he is talking about, probably knows more about Thai music than any foreigner.
