    Plant trees...

Great to see them evolve, provide fruits, shade...

Seeds are available by most barangays, good reason for a walk in nature

Not something I actually do now but would like to try is model aircraft - not the static things, the ones that actually fly.

I recall it now because I saw this vdo the other day:

That's obviously a bit extreme but focking awesome!

Also going to build a whole model-railway thingie with the kids when they get a bit older. They're completely obsessed by trains.

He would need to build a hangar for that in his back yard. I used to have a man cave back in UK but nothing on that scale. Just a small bar, a fridge and a music system with a comfy chair and somewhere to display military memorabilia and trophies, (because IME women don't like that 'shit' cluttering up the house.

And just in time, I got a large manuscript (novel) in the computer today for editing and proof-reading. A novel of Cold War era espionage, set primarily in the Middle East, but also in several countries in Europe. That should keep me busy for a few weeks, especially as the sections on Europe will require a fair bit of research. Good timing.

Photography, got my pics in a book on music and on the cover. On copying them over from a HD recently discovered there were over 90k concerts pics, can never find anything. Jobs around the house like painting, just done the outside. Arguing with the mrs, that takes up a lot of time watching stuff downloaded, chess is a good one but never met anyone in Thailand that can play so it's just on the phone don't like online playing. Still get a bit bored though mainly due to lack of people to talk to, round here is only an African who nobody ever sees and always has the curtains drawn, a mad bloke who we see walking miles to 7/11 most days and a German selling sausages from a cart outside the same 7/11.

I'm thinking anything that involves dexterity although frustrating at first might be beneficial in the long term.

    Aeromodelling.

What hobbies did you have when you were younger?

Hobbies are very personal one man's golf is another man's torture. Also hobbies that are easy in one location are difficult in another.

Davis ... Any VFW or American Legion posts near your location? They're always looking for volunteers to fill their various administrative positions.

Or trying painting, but I get the impression that is not what Davis would be into.

Would Davis be interested in learning Tagalog, or the lingo in his area?

I never asked if he spoke the language in his area.

Nope. Angeles, Olongapo and possibly Manila only. Not much of a joiner in any case.

    Seriously, Davis

I don't know if you're into sport or if you used to be, but.....

One thing I started last year was - following sports.

When I was in the US and younger I followed NFL football, NCAA, and baseball and NBA and college basketball.

When I came to Asia, I read about it online and then gave up on it.

I started following my hometown NFL team about 5 years ago in 2011, and signed up for NFL Gameass for $199.

I can watch every single NFL game from any team, anytime, archived or live from pre-season to the Superbowl.

It's a good deal and a great way for me to pass time being engaged and interested.

This year, I signed up for MLB TV for baseball.

You can see every single game from every team with the home team or away team's announcer. They have condensed also which goes more quickly, but I do the play by play. If the game was the night before, I watch it in the morning without checking the scores.

I love doing this. It's enjoyable AND good for the mind.
