Alonso decided to spin in front of Hamilton on the last flying lap, forcing him to back off, and then cleared the car in time to let Rosberg take pole.

I'm hope there isn't a cat in their paddock.

    Mercedes front row again.

Great start from Hamilton and already pulling away from the grim squarehead.

    Game on.

I couldn't give a shit what you come up with to be honest.

Bit harsh penalising Button for telling them his brakes aren't working!

Motor racing is for Zubes. Why not buy a train set and watch the engine going around and around ? Boring beyond belief but it seems to satisfy the brain-dead masses.

A masterclass of concentration from the Briton.

The poor squarehead was so worried about the Red Bull, he made a complete mess of the start and paid the price.

Drive of the day was Verstappen holding off the not-so-Flying Finn (although bits of his front wing were).

I sense that Paddock Cat is in for a kicking again...

Blimey Ricciardo's tyres look like they were the buffet centrepiece in an Ethiopian restaurant.

Motor racing is a great British tradition much like sheep shagging is a Welsh wet dream.
Good to see Hamilton win again...and not screw up on the start.

Button has pulled over in the pits in FP2, right by the medical centre, and gone to see the doctors.

The shits or burned his arse?

    It's a mystery....

    Meanwhile:

Formula 1 has opted to lift its controversial ban on radio transmissions with immediate effect.

The decision has been taken following Thursday's meeting of the Strategy Group in Geneva, receiving unanimous support from FIA president Jean Todt, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and the six teams involved - Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, Williams and Force India.

Ecclestone told Autosport: "We've decided to open up radio communication again.

"Everyone will again be able to say what they want."

Asked whether that would be from this weekend's German Grand Prix, Ecclestone replied: "Yes."

Turns out Button had something in his eye.
Button has since tweeted: "On my way back to Hockenheim from the Mannheim hospital for an eye examination, foreign body found & removed. All good for tomorrow."
Hamilton dominating practice this morning, although there is an investigation into an incident between him and Grosjean regarding an unsafe release. Didn't see it so no idea what that's about.

More fun and frolics at the start tomorrow then.

Hope so but Tilke has butchered what was once one of the most exciting venues on the F1 calendar. Better than some of Tilke's other track designs but not many decent overtaking bits.

It's ironic that they changed the track to give spectators a better view and yet the sourpusses have stopped going because there isn't a German driver around with a chance of winning.

(They don't count Rosberg because he's a Finn with a German passport living in Monaco and Vettel is driving a pretty shit car to be fair).

Watched qualifying yesterday and was amazed at the number of empty seats.
Promoters must be crying in their beer this weekend.
Bernie gets his cash no matter how many people turn up.

Poor Rosberg gets a 5 second penalty for shoving Verstappen off the track.

Watching Lewis zoom off into the distance and the Red Bulls in the podium places. I guess he'll be sloping off to Germany after the race instead of pretending to be German.
