Crude exports up 9.7pc

MUSCAT -- The Sultanate's total exports of crude oil stood at 243 million barrels during the first eleven months of 2010, compared to 222 million barrels during the corresponding period in 2009, an increase of 9.7 per cent.

The monthly statistical bulletin of the National Economy Ministry indicates that the Sultanate's total production of crude oil and condensates stood at 288,127,100 barrels by the end of November 2010, as against 270,404,000 barrels during the corresponding period in 2009, constituting a 6.6 per cent rise.

The average daily crude production stood at 862,700 barrels during the first 11 months of 2010 against 809,600 barrels during the corresponding period in 2009, a rise of 6.6 per cent.

The bulletin shows that the average price of Oman oil barrel rose by 38.3 per cent at the end of November 2010 to $72.28 per barrel against $55.15 per barrel during the corresponding period in 2009.

China topped the countries importing Omani Oil as it imported 100,347,700 barrels at the end of November 2010 against 70,815,000 barrels during the corresponding period in 2009, constituting a 41.7 per cent rise.

Japan came second, importing 34,920,600 barrels during the first eleven months of 2010 against 34,629,600 barrels, constituting a 0.8 per cent rise.

Thailand came third as it imported 27,233,400 barrels against 31,040,500 barrels during the corresponding period in 2009, 12.3% decline.
