I can't figure out exactly where the sat photo is but looks like near some islands. If it's Hawaii, stating it's twice the size of the continental US is pure BS.

Doesn't do the folks who want something done a damn bit of good if inaccuracies like this are stated to support their argument.

Should be a lesson learned by global warming supporters of Al Gore.

Seriously, the bloke is so obviously in the background it's ridiculous. And the narrative is "Fishing nets and other debris conspire with the floating patch to create underwater masses, somewhat akin to plastic icebergs, like this one found off the coast of Hawaii in 2002.".

    Bollocks.

The fact that no one cares about these issues actually devalues the lives of all people. I mean we see each other as less important to our own existence. I guess it's natural for humans to think this way as we do it in all areas of our lives. Eventually we come to some sort of stress or fear for survival and we just kill off those whom we've slowly devalued over time. The less we care about each thing collectively adds up to the less we care about all things including each other. At least that's my take on it.

It's too bad that those who benefit individually the most from all the production going on are the ones who are least likely to experience the pollution as they fly around the world to the last locations of pure beauty to relieve their stress. But as time goes by, even the places of nature the richest escape to will feel the effects. Then the disgust will come out and they will state what a shame it was that those in the past didn't care.

Maybe, if the photo was taken about 100,000,000 years ago.

Quite right Bower, get these lazy Gen-Y coonts in a fleet of rowing boats to sort it out instead of hanging around outside shopping centres sending each other tweet messages from there iPods.
