I am sure word is already out in the Muslim world about these atrocities.
Part of the reason why USA is creating more radical Muslims that the whole world has to deal with.

but images that bear witness to this type of atrocity are exponentially more powerful than the written or spoken word.Quote:

The Republican Party, upholding family values, truth and decency, taking the moral highground, promoting the clean cut heterosexual American Dream, rallying against the abnormal devients of the liberal left, yet in private encouraging and condoning extreme homosexual sado masochism in the armed forces, there's something very disturbing in the minds and the closets of the right wing methunks.

Very observant Ray Carey, you're right , these pics are not with the Telegraph article , there were no accompanying photos. I did post the other link from where the photos came from.
And not all Americans think this is acceptable, I'd wager a tiny fraction in fact.
Maybe the US should spill the beans on Arab government torture operations; I'm sure the Egyptian torturers make the Americans look like girl scouts. Not necessary, I suppose, because citizens in Arab countries know what they have to look forward to if their own secret police take them in for "questioning". Sometimes I wonder if they aren't merely disappointed that the Americans get up to the same horrible behavior that they themselves do- not that our people are to excused for sinking to that level.
Yes, you're onto us. Those are acceptable practices in America, and we are all gay. The cat is out of the bag, it's fair cop, if only we had had the civilizing influence of more Scottish immigration, especially genteel, refined Glaswegians. As it is you have to torture someone just to find the location of a decent haggis or fried Mars bar anywhere in the States.

On Thursday an article in the Daily Telegraph reported that Taguba, the lead investigator into Abu Ghraib abuse, had seen images Obama wanted suppressed, and supported the president's decision to fight their release. The paper quoted Taguba as saying, "These pictures show torture, abuse, rape and every indecency."
But Taguba says he wasn't talking about the 44 photographs that are the subject of an ongoing ACLU lawsuit that Obama is fighting.
"The photographs in that lawsuit, I have not seen," Taguba told Salon Friday night. The actual quote in the Telegraph was accurate, Taguba said -- but he was referring to the hundreds of images he reviewed as an investigator of the abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq -- not the photos of abuse that Obama is seeking to suppress.

As said before, Bush and Rumsfeld who sanctioned these crimes should be the ones on trial as much as the pawns who physically committed them.
There is ample proof of torture, abuse and murder of detainees, not to mention other human rights abuses. At this point I think everyone should pretty much expect the worst. How the US handles its response will go a long way to determine how lasting, even to the extent of permanent, the damage.
More so. First Cheney.
