He appreciates the wishy-washy, mamby-pamby group hug politics that make everyone feel good and are led by a strong man with nice teeth and really good hair.

Is George Bush a hero for invading a soveriegn nation after Saudies attacked his country? ermm, why did he invade Iraq anyway? I know American baby eaters aint good at geography and that, but does he realise that Saudi and Iraq are different countries?

^I think you're on to something. At least you'll find large groups of Americans who have Reagan or Clinton, and especially Kennedy as their heros. Those are recent leaders. But, for the life of me, I can't think of a single PM that engenders that type of love.

That must be the reason they are so wishy washy on foreign policy with delusions of past grandeur. And, by past, I'm talking hundreds of years.....

Fokling brilliant wasn't she, she saved tax payers millions by closing down those crappy old mines that you lazy gits couldn't make profitable, if you Welsh had even the slightest work ethic and actually were willing to work for a fair wage those mines would still be open today, but, oh no, mining is hard work and makes your hands dirty, so you lazy wasters got shut down

I was in the Cardiff area (Bridgend/Swansea) too around that time and what she did had to be done to save the British economy. Sure it was tough for the miners but most of them got Oilfield jobs in the North Sea and elsewhere.

    1. Yanks, Septics, call them what you will, have no idea. Period. No idea about anything. The world, civilisation, culture, history etc etc Nothing, the vast majority of Yanks don't know about this stuff. i.e. " the rest of the world".

    2. Their all encompassing belief in their truly righteous, all Godly, sanctimonious, save the world, corrupt and capatilistic (sic) brotherhood of white anglo-saxon protestantism (sic) is now beginning to be seen as the abhorrent treachery that it really is.

Can anyone remember what Britain was like in the 70's?
A three-day working week, rubbish uncollected in the streets, no candles to be bought in the shops (power black-outs), shortages, everyone and their dog on strike.
A backward looking country, still reveling in Empire, WW II and the World cup win in 1966.
Thatcher turned Britain into a country that could and does compete in this globalized, interconnected world.
She became a complete arse in the end, convinced of her own rightness, but, the early years from 1979 to 1985, she was just what the place needed.
If it cost miners their jobs and communities, it was worth it for the sake of the whole country.
In the 70's the Unions ran the country, they held the governments to ransom. She changed all that. Finally, elected governments ruled the land.
And, no, I don't like her, but, I do recognize her achievement.

1970s, I remember, I remember reading the signs at the airport stating that each person was only allowed to take 25 pounds out of the country, I wondered how the fok my parents would buy my sister and I food with only 100 quid between 4 of us for our holiday, luckily Thomas Cook was as corrupt as the rest of the world and you gave them the dosh and they would give it back to you when you reached your destination.

Misery loves company, that's why 95% of the poms want to see Osama running America. They quietly wonder, if just maybe, America could ever become as ineffectual and crippled and staggeringly useless as they.
