    Worlds Top Ten Richest Men

    As estimated by Forbes magazine:

1 Warren Buffett US$62 US Berkshire Hathaway
2 Carlos Slim $60 Mexico Telecoms
3 Bill Gates $58 US Microsoft Corp
4 Lakshmi Mittal $45 India Steel
5 Mukesh Ambani $43 India Petrochemicals
6 Anil Ambani $42 India Diversified
7 Ingvar Kamprad $31 Sweden IKEA
    8 K.P. Singh $30 India Real Estate
9 Oleg Deripaska $28 Russia Aluminum
10 Karl Albrecht $27 Germany Aldi supermarkets

What's interesting to me is the number of Indians, 4 of the top ten, and the sheer fortunes involved. Albrecht in 10th place has 'only' $27billion, you could never spend that kind of money. Be fun trying though.

^It's relative in some ways too - his $45b fortune would go a lot further in India, can you imagine the lifestyle he must live??

^ I read about him in a magazine last year some time. I'm pretty sure he has set his son up doing something fancy as well.

Mittal has two children. His son, Aditya Mittal, is the CFO of Arcelor Mittal. Mittal paid over $60 million (£30 million) to host his daughter Vanisha Mittal's wedding celebration in Vaux le Vicomte on 22 June 2004 and an engagement ceremony at the Palace of Versailles on 20 June 2004, the world's most expensive wedding ever. He even hosted a Bollywood night where superstars like Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai performed. Kylie Minogue also sang on stage.[15]
Fuck me. Must be a typo that. $60m for his daughters wedding

includes shares at current value , does it not ?

gotta be close to impossible to realise them all into cash without sending the price into free fall ?

question is who has the cash ??

^^ jesus, I wonder how many poor starving children they could have fed with that lavish wedding party,

This is a prime example of why the rich should be taxed to oblivion, they don't know what to do with all their money

Seems to be quite some variance as well. The Sentido Comun Estimate puts Slim at $69.7b, easily topping this list.

Not surprising that mobi was the first poster to answer.
According to his highness, we all need a minimum of 40 million baht to retire.

    Nothing changes, mobi's still a pretentious knob-head.

And Bendix was the instigator of the poll, and of course GH had to pop in with a little comment about thinking the poll was about annual earnings and not worth.

Poor Bendix, when the results showed that many an expat on the forum is not living in poverty he said that the results were 'skewed' and only the rich members voted. Think Mobi, Bendix and GH might have just found out they are not the in the top ten rich list of TV posters after all.

This is in stark contrast to that other thread about the global shortage of food and the millions of people dying of starvation each day.
