30 flights reportedly delayed following THAI unionists' protest

Employees of the Thai Airways International (THAI) continued their protest at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport for the second day Saturday to demand more bonus and higher pay increase.

The THAI workers led by the union demanded that the THAI board give them two-month bonus instead of one month and 7.5 per cent pay increase instead of 4 per cent.

Channel 3 reported that the second day of protest caused some 30 flights of THAI to be delayed as some luggage boarding staffs stopped working or refused to work over time.

Passengers on board a Qantas flight lived through their own "snakes on a plane" drama when they spotted a 3 metre snake battling for its life on the aircraft's wing.

QF191 was only 20 minutes into its flight from Cairns to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea yesterday morning when a passenger spotted the python taking shelter on the underside of the wing.

The python managed to hold on for the entire one hour 50 minute flight but on arrival in Port Moresby, ground crew found the snake had died.

The president of the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association, Paul Cousins, said the snake - believed to be a scrub python - would have initially crawled up inside the landing bay, and then crawled into the trailing ledge flap on the wing.

He said the snake would have been comfortable until the plane took off and the flaps moved back. Cousins said it would not have been possible for the snake to reach the cabin.

A Qantas spokeswoman said the airline had " never heard of this happening before".

Thai Airways plane tyre burst at Bangkok airport

BANGKOK - A front tyre of a Thai Airways International plane burst Saturday morning as it landed at Bangkok 's international airport, causing no casualties, Thai News Agency reported.

The accident occurred at around 6.20 am with the Airbus A-330 flight TG341 from Kolkata, India to Bangkok.

The plane, however, landed at Babgjij Suvarnabhumi International Airport safely with no casualties among passengers or crew.

The THAI staff rushed to repair the front tyre of the aircraft which was parked on the airport runway before relocating it for further investigation and maintenance.

An initial investigation found no irregularities and the plane is ready to resume service.

Thai Airways denies tyre explosion on flight from India

BANGKOK: Thai Airways today denied that a tyre on a flight from India had exploded, but said the Airbus 330 made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi airport because two tyres had low pressure.

Earlier local media reports had said one of the tyres had exploded during the landing, but Thai Airways International (THAI) president Sorajak Kasemsuvan denied it.

"The plane tyre did not burst or explode on landing as reported but the left and right front tyres had low pressure," Sorajak said.

After the twin-engine Airbus 330-300 aircraft left Kolkata at 2.48 am with flight TG 314, crew members discovered one of the two front tyres was under-inflated.

The crew members requested permission to make an emergency landing as they approached Suvarnabhumi airport at 6 am, he said.

After the plane landed, ground crew and engineers discovered the other main tyre at the front of the aircraft was also under-inflated.

The tyres were changed as the plane sat on the runway, as passengers and crew waited.

All 287 passengers and air crew were safe and they had to wait inside the aircraft for about one hour, Bangkok Post said.

"THAI will investigate the cause of under-inflated tyres because the aircraft had to be inspected in accordance with international standards before leaving the (Indian) airport," Sorajak said.

Accident: Singapore A333 near Bangkok on Apr 22nd 2013, cargo fire

A Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration 9V-STO performing flight SQ-446 from Singapore (Singapore) to Dhaka (Bangladesh) with 117 passengers, was enroute at FL350 about 120nm southwest of Bangkok (Thailand) when the crew received a cargo fire indication, activated the cargo fire suppression system and decided to divert to Bangkok. During the descent towards Bangkok a burning smell developed on board of the aircraft. The aircraft landed safely on Bangkok's runway 19R about 20 minutes later. Emergency services responded, after opening the aft cargo door a plume of smoke became visible, fire services sprayed the cargo bay and needed more than 2 hours to control the situation. There were no injuries, the cargo was damaged, the damage to the aircraft is being assessed.

Thailand's accident investigation board has opened an investigation.

She showed Thomas pictures she took of the chunk that she said put two holes in her roof before bouncing into the yard.

She took Thomas into the attic to see the splintered rafters and holes that were left behind.

Ware was lucky in more ways than one. Authorities said a 20-foot section of the plane crashed into the parking lot in front of a Walmart. No one was hurt.

Federal investigators told Thomas the 747 cargo plane coming from Anchorage was about 5 miles east of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport when a piece of the right wing flap ripped off, breaking into at least two pieces and potentially damaging the aircraft body.

The pilot declared an emergency and landed safely at the airport. Thomas was told by Boeing and China Airlines, inspectors are on site as the jet sits just off Hartsfield's runways.

Ware has now spent several sleepless nights, wondering who's going to pay for her repairs and when the next piece might drop.

"I just keep thinking of what could have happened," Ware said.

Federal investigators now have taken those pieces of the wing flap as part of their investigation. Thomas tried reaching China Airlines several times Wednesday but received no answer.

Japan's All Nippon Airways has resumed commercial flights of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for the first time since the planes were grounded over safety fears.

The first flight landed at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Sunday evening, local time, after a short flight from Sapporo in northern Japan.

Other airlines have already resumed 787 flights, but ANA is Boeing's biggest Dreamliner customer, with 17 planes.

An overheating battery on an ANA flight led 787s being grounded in January.

On December 1, 2013 Thai Airways’ daily service between London Heathrow and Bangkok will be jet-propelled into the 21st century when the world’s largest aircraft, the A380, comes into operation on the route.

The Dreaminer is a very unique airplane. It is carbon fiber. The carbon fibre allows for better cabin pressures which reduce jet lag. It allows to cieling and the layout to be more open too.

The airbus is just another aluminum tube.
