Former president Joe Biden has been diagnosed with a relatively aggressive form of prostate cancer, his office said Sunday, adding that the disease is subject to “effective management” and that Biden’s family is deciding on treatment options.

Doctors are saying the cancer has metastasized to his bones.

That sounds really grim. Mr. Trump also isn't a spring chicken. There are risks when old folks are in charge.

Donald Trump has fueled conspiracy theories over the timing of Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis, saying he was “surprised” the former President’s health was kept from the public until now.

Mr Biden was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, which had metastasised to the bone, on Friday, his office announced.



Speaking at the White House a day after writing on social media he was “saddened” by his predecessor’s diagnosis, Mr Trump told reporters: “I’m surprised that the public wasn’t notified a long time ago”.

“It takes a long time to get to that situation, to get to a stage nine,” he added, seemingly referring to the fact Mr Biden’s cancer was characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5).



President Trump said he had undergone a full physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last month, and claimed that a prostate exam is “standard” for “pretty much anyone getting a good physical.”



“When you take tests, as a male, that test is very standard,” he said.



“This is dangerous for our country,” President Trump added, noting that Biden contributed to the “mess” the country is in now.



“I think people should try and find out what happened … somebody is not telling the facts,” he said. “If you take a look it’s the same doctor that said Joe was cognitively fine.”

“I think that if you look, it’s the same doctor that said that Joe was cognitively fine,” he added. “Maybe it was the same doctor.”



Mr Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, earlier questioned if Mr Biden’s cancer diagnosis was part of a “cover-up”.

“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another cover-up???” Mr Trump Jr wrote on X yesterday, incorrectly labelling Mr Biden’s cancer diagnosis “stage five”.

Dr Biden is not a medical doctor, but rather has a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree.

In his post, Mr Trump Jr had shared a post by US physician-scientist Dr Steven Quay, who claimed it was likely Mr Biden was carrying a diagnosis of prostate cancer during his time in office.



“Prostate cancer is the easiest cancer to diagnose when it first starts and to watch it progress to bone metastases. The PSA blood test shows the rate of cancer cell growth. For even with the most aggressive form, it is a 5-7 year journey without treatment before it becomes metastatic,” Dr Quay wrote on X.



“Meaning, it would be malpractice for this patient to show up and be first diagnosed with metastatic disease in May 2025.”



“It is highly likely he was carrying a diagnosis of prostate cancer throughout his White House tenure and the American people were uninformed.”



According to Healthline, aggressive cancers are those that can form, grow or spread rapidly.



Other MAGA figures have also questioned the timing of the announcement.



President Trump’s former White House physician Ronny Jackson said it was “unbelievable” that Biden’s medical team missed the cancer.



“Care at the White House should be second to none,” he said.



“The truth is, his physician was more concerned about assisting with the political cover-up than providing world-class medical care.”
