^ Main gear deflector, attached to the oleo, as fitted to BA aircraft. There was no engineering reason that stopped Concorde from flying.
I also lived under the Heathrow flightpath and could distinguish concord from other aircraft but didn't find the noise overly disturbing. Also, when I lived in Cornwall, the sonic boom could be heard.

    Lovely aircraft and well engineered.

created a lot of jealousy in some parts of the world. I used hear the boom too, as did many others but no one complained just thought it was beautiful

You really are a moron taking low level pot shots.

The truth is that the concord has nothing on the aviation accomplishments of the US. Why the fuck would we be jealous when we have been to the moon, built SR-71's (which are twice as fast as a Concorde), the F-22 and the B-2 bomber?

All are vastly superior aviation accomplishments. Fuck off limey with your hate you loser.

I grew up in Germany and then served there in the Army. Sonic booms were common place during the Cold War. I heard them countless times as interceptors scrambled to intercept Soviet planes.

BTW, this Russian bear aggression is nothing new.

The Vickers VC10 was a luxury liner compared to the first 707 air trucks. But the 707 was cheaper which is the only reason why they sold better. The Vickers was a better plane.

Great plane, once concord retired it was the fastest passenger plane. Used as tankers down in the Falklands, great fun, just a few rows up front and then a flat floor to skid down from front to back when it was climbing.

Actually, the VC-10 was designed specifically for the African routes rather than as competition with the B-707.

After the war, the US wanted to smash up the aviation industries in the UK and Canada to take it all for themselves. Which they did. Which is why there is no TSR2 or Avro Aero or any large scale civilian aircraft since. If Canada built the Avro Aero, the west would actually have something to match the Mig 31 today.

The cancellation of the Aero was one of the biggest crimes against aviation ever. The aircraft was done. Ready for production. This film documents how the aviation industries in the UK and Canada were destroyed.

If you failed to notice, aside from the Native Americans, every American is an import. That said, almost all of them identify as American before their native ancestry, so the point is a moot one. It was the Germans to fly the first turbojet aircraft, not the Brits or Americans.

Yes, having nicked Sir Frank Whittle's idea.

    Sort of early chinkies really.

Boom released the official rendering of the Overture airliner. This is as close to the full size prototype stage as we have so far. It looks different
