Victor Barrio's widow tells of her heartbreak after husband is gored to death by bull | Daily Mail Online

Barrio's wife, Raquel Sanz, pictured, was in the crowd watching the horrific incident with friends
Admitting it would be a 'tough day' and branding life 'unfair', she posted a poem by Spanish poet Jose Leon which ended with the words: 'How I would love to believe that there is glory for all those who lose their lives on the horns of bulls.
'If that is not the case, then rest in peace wherever you are and us poets will make sure you become immortal.'
Ms Sanz, who married Barrio in 2014, was said to be 'devastated' as she saw her husband lying motionless on the ground,

he matador was taken to hospital unconscious but doctors could not do 'anything' to resuscitate him and save his life. He rolled to the ground in a painful somersault after the 87 stone beast caught him while he tried to deflect it with 'muletazo' manoeuvre, reports La Razon.es.
An initial medical report conducted by Dr Ana Cristina Martinez Utrillas confirmed Barrio suffered devastating injuries as a result of the bull attack.
The report said Barrio was gored in the right chest and was in cardiac arrest by the time he was in hospital.
He underwent immediate resuscitation and was intubated. He also was given an emergency tracheotomy to allow him to breathe.

Barrio was rushed to hospital unconscious but doctors were unable to save his life due to his injuries

However, the bull had speared Barrio through the lung and severed an aorta in his chest carrying oxygenated blood around his body.
There was also damage around his heart.
The Los Maños bred bull, named Lorenzo, had reportedly been struggling but caught the showman off guard after a gust of wind affected his waving of the crutch.

Now the lineage of Lorenzo the bull is set to end. As tradition dictates, the rancher will send his mother cow to the slaughterhouse, reports Cultura.
Although deaths from Spain's famous bull runs are relatively common, with up to around 10 deaths recorded each year, worldwide the last matador death was in 1985.
In that incident Columbia's Jose Eslava Caceres was trapped against the boards before his lungs were pierced by the bull's horns.
The last matador deaths in Spain were Francisco Rivera Paquirri in Córdoba, 1984, and Jose Cubero Yiyo in Madrid, 1985.

he looks even worse in a suit than his camp bull fighting outfit.

FFS. Neanderthal logic in 21st century. But wait! Lorenzo's father is still out there. Get a bullhunt going. Can't have dad out there breeding more vicious killers like Lorenzo.

Maybe they can make some Sausages out of that bull TheGent.

I'd give em a crack on the BBQ.

You could come round my Gaff, you will need to leave your walking frame outside though, I ain't got enough room for a BBQ and a walking frame on my balcony at the same time .

The bull runs in Pamplona are good value for sports fans who enjoy seeing the bull occasionally winning one, before ending up medium rare.

What remains of the Spanish GDP seems to be produced by cruelty to animals though. The "tossing a goat off a tower" especially, ought to get Bettyboo in a tizz.

RIP to the guy... sorry for his wife and family...

That being said, one must assume one is in mortal danger, when one (why am I saying one grrrr!)..

It's a dangerous sport, sadistic and cruel - should be left in the dark ages...(kinda cool) but cruel just the same...

Even worse is that some parents take children to see this horrible pointless cruelty, that's got to harm their emotional development and make them indifferent to the suffering of others.

The failure of the EU to ban this public sickness is another indication of what a failure they are.

    Urm,

So what is there to understand besides some tosser dressed up in his undies stabbing a Bull to the point where it's weak enough to be killed. ??

Granted that the Matadors have balls of steel and are supreme athletes but that means piss all compared to the savagery of this so called sport.

I'm an Animal lover but not that keen on many Humans so I'm callin this out as a job well done by the Bull.

May the Bulls continue to off these tossers.

Or their law enforcement's preoccupation with shooting 'nigras' which appears to be a bloodsport in many US redneck states.

All least the Spanish bull gets to enjoy a closeted lifestyle before the estoque de toreo is slid between its shoulders whereas sambo gets kicked around in shitsville until his ass gets capped.

bloodsports are always a polarising topic, and bullfighting is probably the most polarising of them all.

men in tight trousers and silly hats torturing a poor animal for half an hour in an arena crowded with baying onlookers is medieval to say the least, but probaly no worse than foxhunting or deerstalking.

when a bull gets a result there is certainly as much reason to cheer the bull as tyere is to cheer a skillful display by the matador, but glorifying in his death does not make one anymore of an animal lover.

do the dagos still chuck live goats off towers every easter like isis do with their shirtlifters?
