2 months in the monkeyhouse for offensive tweets

A British university student has been jailed for 56 days for inciting racial hatred after posting offensive comments on Twitter about the collapse of Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice Muamba.

Magistrates in south Wales sent 21-year-old biology undergraduate Liam Stacey to prison after he admitted the charge at a previous hearing last week.

Stacey broke down in tears as he was taken away in handcuffs.

In sentencing the student, district judge John Charles said there was "no alternative" to an immediate prison sentence, as when Muamba collapsed "it was not the football world who was praying for him ... everybody was praying for his life".

Stacey's remarks on Twitter as the footballer battled for his life were "vile and abhorrent", the judge added.

The student was reported to police and arrested after posting a number of tweets mocking the player, who collapsed with a cardiac arrest during Bolton's FA Cup quarter-final tie with Tottenham Hotspur on March 17.

Stacey was taken to task by other users after he used offensive language to say that the player had died, prompting him to respond with a tirade of personal abuse.

Student jailed over 'vile' Muamba tweets - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

As Fabrice Muamba, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder who suffered a heart attack during an FA Cup quarter final against Tottenham Hotspur, lay apparently dying on the field, Mr Stacey tweeted: “LOL, F*** Muamba. He’s dead.”
In response to some of the people on Twitter who suggested that this might not be quite the time for it, he proceeded to add:
    • you are a silly c**t… Your mothers a w*g and your dad is a rapist! Bonjour you scruffy northen c***!
    • owwww go suck a n****r d*** you f*****g aids ridden c**t
    • go suck muamba's dead black d**k then you aids ridden t**t! #muambasdead
    • go rape your dog! #C**t!
    • I aint your friend you w*g c**t ….go pick some cotton!
There are a few more examples of his Wildean mind in action here.
And then, to remind the sensitive among us that it was only some top, top banter – no doubt he would describe himself as the Archbishop of Banterbury – he said:
    • only taking the p**s, obviously people can't take a joke
    .....

I would not like to be in that shoes of that insensitive TD member who started a thread here of Fabrice Muamba jokes.
The mods here get a lot of abuse , but I'd say they saved that bastard 2 months in jail ! , by MKP ing it

he'll probably be eating his own words very soon.

hardly worthy of jail time though, even burglars are not jailed these days.

It'll be interesting to see what they do to the Asian kid who wanted all soldiers to die. Not 100% comparable but worth keeping an eye on.

There are times when the justice system in the UK issues a completely ridiculous sentencing and unfortunately for this immature young man this happens to be one of those occasions

My god, they're jailing people for posting bullshit on the internet.

I think I'd get about 25 years for my crimes!

    Seriously though, very worrying development.

The fascist politically correct thugs are just flexing thier muscels showing who is boss

here's a news story, it's from the same South London tram line
where Emma West was held for about 2 weeks without bail for that anti immigrant rant shown on youtube last December.

BBC News - Woman's eyes burned in chemical mugging in Mitcham

A woman had the top layer of both eyes burned off in an unprovoked chemical attack in south London by two females that left her temporarily blinded.

The victim, 21, had just left Croydon Tramlink, Mitcham, when she was approached by two women holding what appeared to be a water bottle.

Police said without warning, one of the suspects sprayed the contents of the bottle into her face, burning her eyes.
They then stole her purse which contained £15 in cash.

Despite her injuries, the victim managed to call 999 following the incident at about 16:00 GMT on 4 March. Her face was swollen and she had lost her sigh

The first attacker was described as a black woman with long wavy hair.
The second robber was also described as a black woman, with long hair and a fringe.

Det Con Simon Callcot, said: "This young lady has been subjected to an appalling and completely unprovoked attack which may result in her sight being permanently impaired.
Two people have been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
    Bailed ........

I have to say this is ridiculous. While i disagree with any racial comments, this is just another step closure to communism in the west!

Yet, much of this type of suppression has been on-going in the democratic industrialised West for decades on.

    Doesn't anyone recognise this shit?

Imprisoned for racial posting and not when the Imam rants on the streets of London advising young Muslims to throw bombs. Just what kind of thinking is going on in the UK judicial system?

BTW what happened to the story on the BBC about a racial attack on a woman walking with her baby? Seems someone threw acid on her? BBC dropped that one I guess as they were concentrating on the Internet criminals.

Jeez Rural, lighten up! I guess I need to put stupid smiles on my posts for people like you. I wasn't commenting on the content of his tweet. It was a tongue-in-cheek observation about crap like "Tweets", which, like playing with cell phones incessantly, appear to dominate the lives of the great unwashed. Unlike the upper classes, who spend their time productively on forums.....

What a plonker. Of course there was an alternative - there is a whole fucking raft of alternatives - any one of which would have been more suitable than 2 weeks in jail for being a juvenile twat. I don't agree with racism, but this is just bloody stupid.

And as for the "everybody was praying for his life" -pompous arsehole. My immediate reaction, and probably that of 90% of people who heard about it was "Who?".

The sentence is a bunch of posturing bollocks by the judiciary. Obviously politically motivated. He should have been fined 500 quid and told to fok off, stop being so juvenile and use the internet for its intended purpose - batting off.

Gobby lollygaggers should learn that opening that fat mouths in public and spouting rubbish is not 'free speech'. We are not all citizen-jounalists.

But they won't learn. They don't even possess the common sense to do it anonymously.
