    A week in Cornwall.

You'll have to be patient with me on this thread, having just created a photobucket account but i'll add to it through the week.

Never having been to Cornwall before and somewhere always wanted to see booked a week in a static caravan/mobile home or whatever they called in Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula, details of the holiday park and caravans here if anyone interested.

Mullion Holiday Park, Lizard Peninsula, South Cornwall - Parkdean

Not the life of luxury but fit for purpose, have 2 bedrooms in them, 1 double and 1 twin, a small bathroom with shower, toilet etc and a reasonable sized living area with TV, oven, fridge freezer, dining table etc and 2 large sofas which could easily have slept another 2 people but with only the 3 of us was more than adequate and at £600 for the first week in August a bargain. Nice new Hyundai with only 5k miles on the clock from Enterprise cars £168 for 10 days as didn't fancy taking my unreliable motor.

The drive down from sunny Cheshire is 325 miles and took about 7 hours, we decided to leave at 1 am and thankfully we did as the holiday traffic is a nightmare this time of year, took me over 10 hours on the way home. Anyway by about 5 in the morning I was pretty screwed from driving all night not having had any sleep before left so took a slight detour and stopped in Newquay for a couple of hours so I could get my head down. A few snaps from the beach in Newquay where we stopped.

Onto the Lizard Peninsula and Kynance Cove, now this place is spectacular, getting to it is simple enough just follow the signs to Lizard and Kynance Cove is clearly sign posted on the right about 1 mile before you reach Lizard, free to park your car if a member of the National Trust if not £4.50 but even if they charged £20+++ would still be cheap for the views and walks. Got loads of photos from Kynance Cove so will take a while, but here are a few to start with.

These photos were taken about 10 in the morning, maybe a bit earlier and the place is pretty deserted, the white buildings you can see on the above photo is a café which we walked over too and the little beach in the front of it was nice to have to ourselves but a few hours later the place was swamped and when you looked up it was just like a colony of ants descending on the place as the tourists come down in their hundreds. Advice if like peace and quiet get there and leave early.

Should also add those pics from Kynance Cove, the tide is in, the pic where the café is and the bay in front of it where the rock is which my daughter decided to go climbing on is apparently devoid of water when the tide is out.

Ice cream demolished, down to the water...

Can't forget to take the daily selfie...

As you can see this small bit of beach totally empty, a few hours later you couldn't move on it, get there early...

^There's a nice pub / restaurant in the Lizard, the Tophouse Inn, had dinner there one evening, go to the daily specials board, they have whatever they caught that day. Fried whiting on crushed new potatoes for me and tandoori monkfish for the wife.

Love Kynance Cove, with the right weather I don't think I've seen a nicer beach anywhere.
Not been since the kids were small though, but back then there were no crowds (probably because of the walk to get there).
Stayed at the same campsite too.
Great photos BB - green in post

Took a trip to Lands End which was about 30 miles / 45 min drive from the camp site. Weather was hot all week (for the UK) mid 20's and constant sunshine although some of the pics may not reflect that as we generally headed out pretty early most mornings to avoid the crowds, anyway a few from Lands End.

Take a trip down there yourself if have time, you'll be spoilt for things to paint, the whole of the Lizard peninsula has a stunning coastline and lands end only 45 min drive. We're already of thinking of going back to Cornwall next year but a different area, possibly St Minver or Looe.

The Gurnards Head on N Coast near Zennor has superb Gurnard of course and excellent kitchen in a very bleak former tin mining landscape with views to the Scillies The Men-an-Tol,Scryfa and Lanyon Quoit

On the way back from Lands End stopped in Penzance and bought some mussels, £4 for a kilo if a remember, back in the caravan misses cooked them up, pic gives you an idea of the size inside the vans.
