On the subject of booze rooted misery, I've been up for hours with a swollen foot, and a stomach in tatters because of the anti inflam meds decided not to agree with me. That's bastard gout for you.

Are you taking Colchicine?.. if not then thats what you need. You take it until you shit yourself (That was as per a very senior Nephrologist) and then stop. The gout will dissapear in hours. You then need to find out a) what caused it in the first place ( don't say uric acid crystals...duhhh) and b) once established try and avoid those items that are high in purinols. Then a preventative medicine will help such as Alupurinol can be taken to avoid further attacks.

I hate gout with a passion and with severely buggered up kidneys it is a looming threat every day. A good understanding Dr and regular tests are the answer along with identifying the (usually) foodstuff that triggers it.

The standard Thai answer is... you eat too much chicken. Stop eating chicken. (not that easy here) but Prawns and other seafood can also raise uric acid levels. Everyone is different apparently apart from the Chinese as they all look the same to me.

It really is a bugger of an affliction but once you get the meds and the diet right you can often avoid it for months on end.

Thanks toslti. I rarely have attacks these days as I take allopurinol daily. Diclofenac is the culprit behind a woeful bowel upset. I find it has either no ill effect on the very rare times I feel the need to take it or, in the 75 mg dose will reek havoc!
Sadly, I'm certain too much alco intake is the reason.

the night before: drink water regularly, take vitamin b-complex every 3 hours, eat a small meal before bed and take a multi-vitamin mineral.

I know prevention is not your point in this thread, but what what the heck.

    Enjoy da pepperoni.

You've clearly been shopping at the Co-op, Slap. £4 for 4 regular Stellas. I read this whilst hungover earlier, so I popped out, got more beer & wine and got some weed delivered. Closed all the curtains in the flat, made it nightime, put on 4hr random selection of 80s music videos (including that ultimate Aussie anthem, ''Down Under'') and vegetated on my sofa until I keeled over again about 4hrs later.

That's what sundays are for. Church is for wimps.

    Hangover?

If you where in Mexico I would recommend "Manudo Soup".. Otherwise, you might try predissolving 3 Aspirin in hot tea or coffee for faster action to relieve the pain..
