    Hotel Guide

Do you think we can start a hotel guide in the travel section.

Nothing to do with short times etc just a good review of any hotels that we have stayed at with photos.

    Resorts and guesthouses as well.

I'm trying to find somewhere to go for af ew days and it's a bugger when I can't find any hotels in the area I want to stay in even though I know there must be some there.

I think I am going to go and stay around Kao Yai in a resort there for a few days.

Not sure where else to go and the missus's mum is sick so can't go to far.

^I may bump into you Squizzel, I'm heading up to that area tomorrow afternoon, then staying in either Pak Ching or Khorat for a night, then off to Surin for a couple of days and then stopping off at a few places on the way back.

So if you see a bunch of white idiots in a van, just give us a wave

Edit: Probably won't cos you're going to Sa Kaew, not Khao Yai

I can recommend The Landmark Hotel, Pak Chong - not too far from Kao Yai.

^^If we stay in Pak Chong it will be either the Landmark or the Khao Yai Residence, but we'll probably just stop for lunch and then move on to Korat.

In Korat will either stay at the Royal Princess, the Hermitage or The Korat Resort. Anyone know anything about the Hermitage or the Korat Resort? We've stayed at the Royal Princess before and it was good, but the other two are cheaper and it's always good to try something new.

Was this aimed at me? If so, I think I had a suite - it looked like this picture from here.

I stayed at one in the town center last time. It was cheap and cheerful not sure what it was called.

I will be at the Landmark at some point tomorrow.

^We're trying to split the Bangkok-Surin trip in half, so I think Pak Chong is a little bit too near Bangkok and we'll probably stay in Korat, may stop there on the way back in three days or so if you're still there.

    It's bloody pissing down still.

Also the tide has changed so the river is flowing in the opposite direction which means that the klong back ups flows into my drive way and fills it about a metre deep.

Got to wait an couple of hours and see what way it is moving.

I'm off soon to visit Thetyim in Phrae.
Looking forward to getting away for a few days.
Will do a pictorial on one of the few hotels in the city.

    Korat hotels

For Korat, there is a new place :

Amporn Hôtel-restaurant & appartements à Korat au coeur de l'Isaan en Thaïlande

Amporn hotel, Gaston runs this place, cheap, family type , accross the Hermitage Hotel 044 266 808 ( 500 thb approx with breakfeast...)
Great food, clean and new place, friendly chap...

Hermitage has a nice decorated garden and is ok 800 thb up

Royal Princess is good for the Japanese, 1200 thb up

Sima Thani is nice 1200 thb up

Rachapruek is nice 1200 thb up

Sri Pattana Hotel, veterans choice around 500 thb up

Then there are plenty for cheap and nothing special, like the K Star around 500 thb or the CHompol Grand Hotel 750 Thb up..
