My day at work - Part 2 .. Football at Maracana, Rio

Went along to a South American Cup game at the Maracana.... The away team (Nacional) were from Uruguay and there fans didn't turn up due to not being able to afford to travel or something....

So, us Brits off the boat were escorted by a Brazilian Flamengo fan that also works on the boat... We got tickets in amongst the mad lot of supporters for 40 Rias each..(About 3.2 to the pound)... It was a late kick-off... ten to ten in the pm...

Heading into the ground... (Pics from camera so not great - also dropped my phone in my beer but managed to lick it clean quick enough)...

Beer can be bought and consumed in vast quantities all over the ground... You don't have to leave your seat as they come around selling the cans inside also...

That's me in the Maracana that is....

Getting busier....

And getting crazier... atmosphere was great and the singing never stopped...

Flamengo won the game 2-0 so everybody went home happy.... Game standard was OK but not great.... I don't actually remember much about the game as was drunk...Can't beat the atmosphere of the crowd though....

I don't think they have alcohol inside UK football stadiums due to most of the supporters being chav scum.

At rugby stadiums you have to go to the bar.

Yeah... Brits generally can't be trusted to get drunk in a tightly packed crowd while watching sport.... Riots and fisticuffs tend to occur....

Binge drinking before entering a football ground in the UK is the norm...

One of favorite memories is going to basketball games with my Dad and ordering beer from the beer dude. In addition to selling cans, there was a coupla guys who walked around with mini-kegs strapped to their backs. Kinda like scuba tanks, except they dispensed draft beer into cups. Awesome.

if you pay enough, especially in england you can get beer at the games. ie boxes, entertainment packages
