A few autumn pictures of my place in the City of Berlin

    Hi

    Autumn in Berlin

I put this in the Lounge, because I don't see another fitting subforum. It's not travel, it's not Thailand, and it's not "Beautiful Lancashire"

Ok, fine. This was moved to the Travel forum.

At second try I was able to upload my pictures in better quality at much smaller size.

So here we go: First some pictures of the immediate surroundings. It's 1/2 hour drive with public transportation from Brandenburg Gate, where Ronald Reagan spoke his famous words "Mr. Gorbachew, open this gate", which happened not too much later.

Appartements directly adjacent to our place

Across the street from my place

These are garages of our complex of terrassed houses.

A few more minutes walk, getting close to where the Berlin Wall used to stand.

That's ancient history for the young but very living memory for me.

I love the colour shifts in autumn, lots of contrasting colours pop out of nowhere. Nice pics.

No, not at all. Immanuelkirchstr. is in the Center.

I live in the South, very near the city limits. Maybe 25km from my place.

Me too, but my favorite time is spring. Nothing like the fresh young green after winter.

The tropics is nice but I would miss spring and autumn. I don't fancy our summer and I can give a miss to winter. It is just dark and wet most of the time. A real winter with snow and ice and frost in the trees on a freezing but sunny day is beautiful but we rarely had any of those over many years.

Favourite time in northern Europe: Summer

We had three weeks of blistering heat a few years ago, driving from Bonn, Siegburg and Koeln to Bremen to Luebeck and Berlin.

Beautiful country, Berlin = fantastic city

Great times for the kids as well, overall fantastic trip.

Thanks for the pics, very nice

Having spent the majority of my adult life in SEA, I realised years ago, the thing I missed most about Europe was the seasons - never missed the food!
    Great Photo's wonderful colours.

Yes it does. My last autumn fotos coming now.

This is to prove that not only Bangkok can have cold spells.

And this is the front of my house. People who visit us for the first time, usually are shocked how small it is. Once inside, they are surprised how big it is inside.

Last picture in this thread my garden. It's really tiny but I am not a great gardenenr. Here is the proof that not everyting in germany is clean and orderly.

I took those last pictures yesterday. Lack of sun and therefore the colors are not as vivid as the other series. It's also later in autumn.

How un-German of you, surprised the neighbours don't complain

Sieht aus wie ein Schrebergarten . . . ein leicht verwahrloster!

Seems like you had some nice weather there. I could not make pictures like that because it is only rainy and grey in Hamburg since the autumn arrived.

Yes, many times this year the weather report promised us clouds and rain. It rarely ever reached Berlin. The first half of the year was such a disaster that I was happy for every bit of rain that finally arrived. Even now the weather is sometimes sunnier and drier than forecast.

Weather permitting I will follow up with winter and spring fotos. But hopes for winter are not high.

can you give me a more precise way to get to your area?

I do not mean your address or street, but I like this area of Berlin with the wild foliage. I suspect it is due north toward the Nordsee.

    Just the opposite.

The southmost part of Tempelhof. Closer to the new airport Schönefeld than the unfortunately now closed Airport Tempelhof.

You are right, the north has much more forest land than the south. But we don't have those wild pigs, wich can be a nasty scourge up north.
