For anyone interested I posted a thread on the Zambezi last year here; The Mighty Zambezi River. Wasn’t sure to post these latest posts there or here.

Rest of the afternoon spent by the pool will the Billy lids splash around and Dennis cooks a roast chicken. I guess you really could say winner, winner…

Today’s a bit overcast, would have made a good day for fishing, but I’ve already arranged an afternoon game drive. As I sat enjoying a morning beverage a couple of guys paddled by on a canoe. Brave guys cos a hippo would make short work of it.

They might have been the same two fellows from yesterday who stopped by to give our boat driver some free fish, he called himself a coxswain but I thought that might have been a little pretentious for what is essentially a slight posh version of a tinny. Anyway, he was very happy and figure his good luck in getting free fish would translate into good luck in spotting loads of animals.

You're a tough critic. I wouldn't mind a few cans of Wild Dog and enjoying some time away from city life. DrWilly appears to live very well for someone who is supposed to be on Struggle Street.

Yesterday afternoon was a bit of a mission as well as a great game drive, saw all the usual animals and a whole lot more. We were treated to stunning vistas and a spectacular sunset.

and our vehicle was briefly charged by a young male elephant, which was a little unnerving,

and we were lucky enough to spot leopards twice, once during the afternoon in the game park the animal just leaped across the road in front of us and run off into the bush, and once on the way home outside of the actual park we saw this fellow sauntering down the road.

The route required a four wheel drive. We only got bogged once, but getting out of your vehicle is not advised.

even on the way back to camp we had to stop for elephants on the road

A day in the life in Southern Africa-img_9007-jpegand even to allow this hippo to cross before we undertook this water crossing.

Did you see any wild dogs? They're on of my favourite animals but I never saw one during my time in Namibia.

Unfortunately not. Lower Zambezi National Park is slightly over 4,000 square kilometers (or three times the size of Bangkok) with an estimated 40-50 individuals in LZNP, chances are low.
