The water running primarily into Lake Washington is alpine fresh river water that is primarily snowmelt that comes off the Cascade mountain range. It runs through the cut into Lake Union, then continues through the cut into the Ballard locks and finally out into the Puget Sound. The lakes and cut are constantly being replenished with fresh water from the mountains.

Weekday, so back on topic. They’ve dug almost the entire size, but it will go deeper, 900mm this end and 1500mm the far side. The lads are pretty quick considering only 1 uses a shovel and 5 watch. They also had to go around the sprinkler pipes (and thankfully they didn’t damage these).
