The quest was Mirador Del Rio!

An architectural delight straight out of a Bond film overlooking La Graciosa Island and far reaching views to Saharan Africa.

A cycling hot spot is the Canary Islands, these hill climbing roadbikers are hardcore to get up here..

Not the point, you're ruining the motion of the story.

We will settle on Hitler youth prospects

Great view Joe and made even better with a coffee.

Definitely got us thinking of making a trip, lots of hiking on those islands and I hope they still sell pistachio ice cream everywhere.

Bocadillo and a couple of beers.

The bread has to be as dry as a nun's chuff.

It means it cannot be consumed without two beers.

I spent a week there in 98', diving most days with a couple of Germans out of puerto del carmen. one called Freddie who's digs were a room at a bordello outside playa blanca had a small dive shop. we'd get beered up after diving in the afternoon, drive out in his jeep get a spot overlooking a bay take a bbq and a big icebox of beer and wine and drink through to the early morning with a few others and get brekkie at the bordello, then crash there till early afternoon . i barely used my room apart from a change of clothes. not been back since. I met freddie at the police station on my first day after i got rolled tjhe night before by a north african gang who lurked waiting for tourists, pushdc them over from behind and nicked your monet/wallet. Luckily i had folded my 300 euros into the bottom of the wallet and they only found 25, threw the wallet on the ground an scarpered. I was at the station to report it and freddie was helping an old norwegian couple who also had got mugged.

That beach looked fucking nice, I could sit there all day with some beeroos.

Food looks pretty decent. Nice beers, no San Miguel yet! The first thing I do when I next go to Espania, is buy a big brown bottle of San Miguel, drink it and smoke a Fortuna curbside. Next heard of Tropical, any good?

Nice story Mike and sounds like some epic times. I sometimes feel I missed out on some Euro adventures seeing I went to Thailand when I was 19!

That's the one, still looks the bloody same!

living the dream right there, absolute legend!

Buying a cheap Rolex or a flick knife is all part of the process for any self respecting Brit visiting the continent.

It's all about fun. There are gangs sizing up bloke with those in me old Manor. Thing is once you retire you need a hobby and so buy yourself a taser. Have a stride out in the old Manor flashing your 600thb (you got ripped off you minkie) chinkie rolex and once you get a bite give the kvnt 50000 of the best, whilst he's darn kick the kvnt too, a few times and then toddle off with you flat cap and long coat. I'd also take a rattle can of ferrari red just to give him the holiday look.

One must not underestimate the unrelenting wind in the North of Lanzarote ! If you enjoy wind and water sports then it should pose no significant problem.

A black collared Eurasian dove, very friendly and will virtually eat out of your hand..

Some local traditional dry stone walling for Ciz, he loves this boring shite..

    A couple of Canarian crabs..

I've been eating ridiculous amounts of sea food uncharacteristically of me, but it's so fresh, cheap and tasty here.

It also makes a massive change not to buy, cook, clean up myself.
I swear I've put 5 kilos on this past week.

First up chilled Langostino ensalada mixed..

    Followed by Calamari and Paella..

Carrot cake and ice cream for desert ..

Went on a mission today to watch the footy but alas all the bars here are Irish or Scottish showing Rangers or the egg ball, I blame Brexit.
Not my cup of tea so I enjoyed the kite surfing..

Anyhow, these intrepid desert boots are made for walking..

    First joint is kicking in...

Back in July 1974, when the tourism industry in Lanzarote was beginning to bloom, The Daily Telegraph Magazine ran an interview with the celebrated lanzaroteño artist and environmentalist César Manrique, headlined “Building paradise in the ruins of hell”. In it, while padding around his Tahíche home (now a museum, where the article has been displayed) barefoot, Manrique shared his vision for wanting “the tourist to find a beautiful, not a destroyed, island”.

Why underrated Lanzarote was 50 years ahead of its time
