    Canadiana Summer

I thought I'd throw up a few pics as Joe said he missed my pics. I have done a lot of hiking and biking so far this summer, so thought I'd share a few piccies. I hope everyone is doing well by the way.

Went for a hike in Gatineau park, Quebec awhile back. This is the highest point in the park.

I think this is a white cherry blossom tree.

The view is nice from here, it is called Champlain Lookout.

That is the Ottawa River in the far distance as Gatineau, Quebec is across the river from Ottawa, Ontario.

These are called White Trilliums and are the national flower of Ontario , also seen on the Ontario Flag.

They also are found in other parts of Canada and the USA I have read. They also come in pink.

There are a lot of lift locks in Ottawa along the Rideau Canal. Here we are looking at Gatineau from the Ottawa side. We also saw a turtle here which was a rarity.

We crossed that rail looking bridge on the right to get to the Quebec side looking back over parliament hill from the Museum of Civilization.

Yes, that is where Justin Trudeau works.

I often bike along the rideau canal from my area to downtown and over a bridge and bike back on the other side, it takes me about an hour and a half and I do it quite often.

A few pics on the ride.

Tour boats ride along the canal.

These are random chairs along the path you can sit and watch the people that usually come along here either paddle boarding or pedal boats... Dow's Lake.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing, MM.

It would be interesting to go back and take and post photos of the exact same places in winter. Or maybe all 4 seasons.

Thanks Stretchy. I have pics from other seasons, especially winter when they freeze the canal and people skate on it.
Just back from a 18 km bike ride... beautiful day out there.

    Caption this? lol

    My bike

You can rent kayaks, pedal boats, paddleboards here and go around the lake.

I keep reading about these horrific wildfires in Canada. These fires anywhere near you? (pics suggest that the wildfires aren't affecting your area too much).

Hi happy, yes the smoke came to us a few weeks ago forf a few week or more, and it was horrible. Our AQI was in the unhealthy and very unhealthy category for a week or so. It really reminded me of when I lived in Beijing. I absolutely was scared as I heard they just weren't going out as they were north of us in Quebec. It has been good now for a few weeks, thank god. I couldn't go out for two or three days because of it.

Fine photos toots, I won't ask if you got your rocks off as rather like the Greeks who lost their marbles I'm too stoned.

There is much controversy about such art between Pebbles and rubble barney, all I may add is Yabba Dabba don't Gateau n Eau 4 me

    Thanks Katie, and David!
The summer has been crazy. Three tornadoes touched down not too far from me (15 mins) this summer. Been a summer of extremes.

A couple of photos taken from my balcony. That is downtown Ottawa, in the distance.

A couple of weeks ago myself and my bestie went on an old rail bridge that we have been waiting to open. It is a bike path that crosses the Ottawa river from Ottawa-Quebec. The path is pretty long too.
