The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force on Monday arrested a man in connection with a series of anti-Semitic threats and vandalism in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Police charged David Haddad, 56, of Manhattan, with aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Sources told Fox 5's Lisa Evers that Haddad is himself Jewish and is related to one victims and knows another.

The NYPD has connected Haddad to four incidents: threatening phone calls made to an 80-year-old woman in Brooklyn on December 11, 2011; anti-Semitic symbols and statements scrawled on five apartment doors and a threatening phone received in a building in Manhattan on January 10, 2012; a threatening phone call made to an 87-year-old woman in Manhattan on January 11; and a threatening voicemail message left for a 78-year-old woman in Brooklyn on January 1, authorities said.

This Exeter University UK event, & following article by journalist Christopher Bollyn, is a couple months old now, but Bollyn does a nice overview with links, describing the Jewish rent-a-mob who answered the cattle-call to protest Gilad Atzmon at Exeter Univ-- how individually, these "protesters" were ignorant of anything but a few Hasbara-cherrypicked quotes of Atzmons writings. Gilad Atzmon is an Israeli-born writer ( author of The Wandering Who ) and jazz musician who examines issues surrounding Jewish identity, the so-called "Jewish State of Israel", and Zionism. Recently, Atzmon was invited to speak at Exeter University in England where he was met by a group of Jewish students who protested against his speaking at the university. On his arrival, Atzmon asked to speak to the group of protesters. He began by asking if any of them had read his work. Amazingly, as the video below shows, not one of the university students engaged in the protest could say that they had read his books or essays. Why would Jewish university students protest against an Israeli author whose work they had not even read?

If by "Jews" you mean believers/practitioners of Judaism, separate from their various racial/ethnic/genetic-origins, then sounds like those Jews you're referring to ^ are Sephardic or Mizrahi Jews- the darker Arabic-looking ones who are genuinely indigenous to the Mid-East.

Difficult to nail down population/percentage numbers thanks to the mixing over the centuries, but today the Sephardic/Mizrahi Jews appear to account for somewhere < 20% of Judaism-practitioners worldwide. To better understand the Palestinian bid for membership in the United Nations, it is important to understand the original 1947 UN action on Israel-Palestine.

The common representation of Israel’s birth is that the UN created Israel, that the world was in favor of this move, and that the US governmental establishment supported it. All these assumptions are demonstrably incorrect.

In reality, while the UN General Assembly recommended the creation of a Jewish state in part of Palestine, that recommendation was non-binding and never implemented by the Security Council.
