    Here We Go Again

Here it is a couple of weeks before i,m off again, and would,nt you know it, i,ve had to put another bloody dog 'down'....bit of a story, i am , as most parents do, forever 'looking' after my daughters dogs, inevitably, they become mine and i love em heaps, this one has been in the family unit for a mere 7 years, sadly though , heart/lung failure, so again and all too soon i have had to say goodbye to..GEZABEL,, RIP , she was a good girl and not suffering anymore

I feel for you mate. Last year I had to put my companion of 19 years down. Just think of the good times.

Sorry, mate. I know the pleasure you get from your other dogs will help you get over it, but it ain't easy.

I hope you're talking of a dog. That's a good age, and lots of warmth.

Had to remove (kill) a few kittens the other day upcountry. My daughter is still not talking to me...

Hated doing what I deemed needed to be done.

Anyway, nedwalk I can relate to your experience.

Can you blame her, you are a bit of a tool.

Hated doing what I deemed needed to be done.
Hated saying what I deemed needed to be said

    Condolences Ned

Sorry to hear about that Ned.

A couple of weeks ago I had to take one of my mutts to live with my wifes family because she wasn't able to live my other 2 since we moved house. Everyday she'd fight them to near death and it wasn't a hierarchy thing because she was already at the top. Not the same as having to put one down but it still hurts every night when I come home and she's not there.

You know how much I love dogs and I feel your pain mate.

I'm in Malaysia at the moment and my missus told me that my midget jumped out of the pick-up the other day when she was driving the kids to school.

I almost had a heart attack but apparently she's OK as she must of landed on her nose and bounced (The dog not my missus).

Anyway, and as S.T said, well have a drink to her memory and then you can get yourself a new pussy. They live longer and don't shed as much hair.

Think good, ned, they don't know what's happening.

Easy to say and a bit harder to do, but when it has to happen, hide your own sadness and let her go with a tail wag by making it a game.

My cat Saturna purred till the end in my arms. She was loved and loved. 16 years old.

And still missed so much every day for two years now.

We, my friends and i, actually had a sort of wake for her. Lot's of stories and booze.

Yes it is. However Thai vets don't like to kill animals, it's against the principles of Buddhism.

Sorry to hear that sad news.
My Thai vet refused to put down any animal, no matter what. He'd give pain shots if it was really bad, but otherwise, it's your concern. Could never do it meself. Couldn't kill anything, except centipedes and scorpions if kids were around. Extracting birds from cat jaws was the worst task. Kittie would attack me and then the bird would peck the sh*t outta my hand while I walked to the temple. Ungrateful lot.

Bugger, one of my remaining 2, Talung, the boy, got spooked by some of the workers on the building site last night when I was walking them. He slipped his collar and disappeared into the night.

After hours of searching I decided to check outside the compound. He must have seen me and tried to follow so when I got back to our main gates he was there in the road and had been knocked down by a car. Poor little bugger didn't stand a chance

Yeah she was fretting a bit. Then when we took her for a walk last night we pointed out the tree to her that we buried him under and she poked her head through the fence and just stared at it, we just sat there for 10 mins. The tree was 20 feet away and across a road. I know that she could smell him and I think she understands now.

At the time after it he had been hit, I didn't know whether or not to show her his dead body. I decided not to, but in anyones experience, was that the right thing to do or not?

Not sure where I originally got this from, but I'd say no, just give her lotsa attention to make up for something she knows is gone but can't understand why or where.
