Well, this is a screenshot from today of Mt. St Helens going off 45 years ago. I moved to Eastern Washington a year later and bought a house that still had 5 inches of dust from it in the basement as it was under construction when it blew. The mountain was several hundred miles away and the amount of dust must have been incredible.

btw, there was a very nice photo posted by Backspin last night that caught the eye of quite a few posters. The minxy Asian gal on a UK council estate bench.

did a little hiking in austria - it was cold so lunch was this sweet dumpling smothered with melted butter, vanilla sauce, poppyseeds and sugar

It was only 3kms out and 3kms back...but there was a bit of up/down and a fair steps.
And I lied - I didn't go to the very end - just to the bar/cafe (that is supplied by boat) - so we were short by about half a km (but uphill).
The missus was lagging and it was quite warm so we turned back!

(and by crikey this forum is a bastard to post on, continually getting logged out and slow... and generally shit!)
