So, M'Sahib's new Note 8 arrived yesterday, after pre-ordering. The free 'extras' will be here in a couple of weeks. Certainly a nice looking piece of kit, with a large excellent screen, facilitated in part by the 'virtual' home button now. Dropped in a 128 gig SD card which brings it up to 192 gig total. Here's a photo of the Note 8 alongside it's Note 5 predecessor:

Trying to post a pic.Arrrrr.
A couple of motorbikes
Must be doing something wrong. Anyway it's a 1972 SL 100 on the left and a 1967 ASI 125 on the right. A friend and I took them for a spin the other day.
Thanks, what did I do wrong?
I was used to the old way so yea, gotta crawl before I can ride I guess.
The red one cost 50usd. It was sitting in some old ladies garage and needed a gas tank. I found one and painted it to match. Looks good for an old Binks sprayer.
I hapened across it as I used to live in the city a while back. I was polishing my '68 CB 350 in the driveway when some kids rolled up. One asked me if I'd sell him the battery side cover because he had the same bike.
I explained I couldn't as I only had the two, one on each side. Long story short I parked it outside next to the ga under a bike cover. The next time I took the bike cover off to ride it I found the kid stole my side cover. So I went round and round looking for this kid and or his bike. Thats when I saw this ASI 125 in this ladies garage. I asked if she would sell it (tires were flat and gas tank had holes in the bottom ) and she said I could have it for 50 bucks. I said I'll be right back with the cash. I brought a tire pump along and low and behold they held air. Still the same ones on it today. I rolled it home and not long after some tinkering and a tank I was mobile.
The other I bought for 200 off a guy I once worked with. He was retiring at the time so trying to liquidate stuff. The clutch pushrod was bent so it would not throw out the clutch. I removed the rod placed it in a vise and walla. I placed it back in 180 degrees out so the weak section where it had bent was in the sleeve and has worked flawless since.

Great stuff mate, i love these old bikes that are in show room condition well done.
Ya know, I nearly bought it but i just did not really like the long screen, my handbag agreed. If it was square i recon i would of coughed the cash.
Anyway the Note 5 has been brilliant for the girl and i saved a quick cool 20 K so all's good.
These phones are all about the S Pen and if its not used much paying the extra wedge for the Note phone is simply a waste of money.
My handbag uses the Pen everyday though so the Note phones are worth the extra. Great feature when used.

It is stylish and the small bezel is good.
But the whole point of Samsungs is that they do NOT have virtual home buttons. Virtual home buttons are bad since they waste 5% of the total screen real estate.
Sorry to see they have gone the route of other manufacturers and started doing this - unless Android has got cleverer and started auto-hiding the home buttons?
The Note 8 boasts a 6.2 inch screen I think?
But that will only really be 5.9 with the newly added screen wastage feature.
The Xiaomi Mi Max has a 6.44 inch screen and proper home button so you get the full 6.44 inches .. as the bishop etc....!
Mine is all of 10 inches.
Ok, I lied but it looks big in her hands.
What can I say, she has little hands.
