I was lucky enough to grow up around 500m from an 800 yr old (ruined) castle, and have always had such interest in things.
It's an aspect of growing up European that I think Americans and Aussies etc. cannot appreciate.

Couple of places do 'afternoon tea' which is just that. After 2.30pm you won't see a tea leaf for miles, unless you walk 4-5 miles to McD's

Had a cracking dinner once in a small cafe/diner/restaurant and really enjoyed it so I decided to go back again a week or so later - at about 2.45pm. "Sorry. We don't serve meals after 2.30pm."
