Nice, cheers.
William Hill is still going strong.
Out of interest, do you know how old that clock tower is?
Dunno, I'm 9 miles away
Quite a while ...

Redruth Town Clock
In our main street, Fore Street, is the Town Clock which has been there since the 1700’s. In 1828 the former wooden tower was demolished and replaced by a stone tower. In 1904 Clock Tower was extended by a section because new buildings had grown up which prevented the miners up the hill from seeing the clock face.

I think that's the point I'm trying to make...Science and art are supposed to be diametrically opposed and software engineering, with the pedantry it presupposes , is as far from art as one could possibly imagine...
... Except I believe that writing software is an art in itself, and requires just as much imagination.
Apart from that, I have a proclivity for drinking and love to get to that juncture, just before intoxication takes over, where the imagination flows.
Iceland is where the action is
Thanks Nev. I'll look into it more tomorrow.
I was lucky enough to grow up around 500m from an 800 yr old (ruined) castle, and have always had such interest in things.
It's an aspect of growing up European that I think Americans and Aussies etc. cannot appreciate.

I like the Poms ... a lot.
Lived there for a couple of years.
However ...

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
What are you shopping for?
..and where are the people!?
That's how these small towns are in far flung counties like Cornwall. Was looking for a place to get a cup of tea.
Couple of places do 'afternoon tea' which is just that. After 2.30pm you won't see a tea leaf for miles, unless you walk 4-5 miles to McD's
Weird, innit. I had a similar experience with food. Had a cracking dinner once in a small cafe/diner/restaurant and really enjoyed it so I decided to go back again a week or so later - at about 2.45pm. "Sorry. We don't serve meals after 2.30pm." FFS, I was the only customer. I never went back after that. Fuckem.

A few rocket scientist I hear are non believers.
In London you can easily find a Turkish greasy spoon open til 7 or 8pm. Workers Cafe in Holloway Road N19 does tasty roast dinners, choice of 4 meats, roast & 3 veg and a tea for 4.95

When I lived in London and worked as a gardener in the mid eighties we use to go to the old gressy spoon for breakfast =Bacon eggs sausage black pudding beans toast and a cup of tea all for 1 pound come to thing about it a pint of beer was 1 pound then too.:)
Years ago I went to a dilapidated cafe in Kilburn, got served by an old bloke with a fag in his mouth and a hacking cough
I dreaded finding his wifes beard hair in my omlette
Been here a few times as well. Junction Road, Archway ..Good sausages

What's worse than biting into a sausage and finding a roach?
Biting into a sausage and finding half the roach.
