EEK! It's that time of year when Canadian men strut around in shorts and sandals. I am sorry, but one thing that almost always leads me to vomit is men's feet. (To be fair, some women's, too.)
It's not difficult to look after your feet and they will look and feel so great afterwards.
Here's how:
Once a week, fill a bucket that both feet fit into with warm sudsy water.
Soak your feet for ten minutes or more (if you have a heavy callous build-up, soak about 30 minutes)
Remove one foot and pare off the dead skin. If your callouses are really thick, use a corn parer (available in Thailand), but be very careful not to cut yourself.
Then get a piece of sanding paper (if you don't have callouses, skip the step above and use this) -- coarser grain for rough removal, then a fine grain to smooth the skin as soft as a baby's bottom. Also be careful here -- use the sand paper on wet skin and don't rub so hard that you sear through the skin.
Do the other foot.
Change the water and soak a bit longer. Trim the nails straight across (easier when they are soft).
Rinse feet and towel dry.
File the nails to make smooth.
If you have nail fungus, apply Canestan to the nail surface after every shower (or at least twice a day).
Apply a soothing lotion like eucalyptus or peppermint. Put your feet up.
Wow!
You'll also walk better, too.
Oh, if you have hair sprouting on the toes, I'd shave that.
If you can't reach your feet, ask the missus to help. Just ensure she doesn't file your toe nails into points. Unless you like that, of course.
