    Strange slogans on t-shirts

After reading the Che Guevara thread in Issues some time back and agreeing with the point that, although you see Che's image in many places here, esp t-shirts, many Thais would have no idea who he was, let alone the history, I've noticed a few more 'strange' t-shirts. Saw a lad of about 14 wearing a Lenin t-shirt the other day; just waiting for the Stalin ones and today, I saw the strangest one yet. It was a peach coloured fitted t-shirt for a woman. It had red and black swastikas all over it and the word 'Nazi' emblazoned across it.

These (and the 'fuck me' or 'fuck you' t-shirts we see a lot of in HH, even on very young children) amaze me. I realise (or hope!) that in most cases the wearers have no idea what they're wearing, but what about the designers? Surely someone putting the nazi emblem all over a woman's top knows what they're doing? Is it just a laugh for them? I really can't get my head round it.

When I was up-country once, I noticed a very old woman who was wearing wearing one of those spoof "I like coke" T-shirts that actually says "I like cock".

I just didn't have the heart to tell her.

NR, the swastika has loads of different meanings and usage in loads of different cultures. It was derived from a letter in Sanskrit, appaerntly. Wiki have a good page.....here

I was washing the gfs car the other day and she came out with a old t-shirt to use to dry it off. I happened to read the slogan on the front, it read..."can you remember the first person you were fucking"
I explained that it wasnt a polite thing and that it was a good job she wasnt still wearing it, she quickly told me that she only ever wore it for sleeping in and never outside, she didnt see the irony in that and I chuckled to myself about it

I realise that, but I don't think the word 'Nazi' has other meanings, does it?

What is simple and people can easily remember, sales - marketing...

KISS keep it simple and stupid

Same as for a song, the easier to remember, often the more it sales

I do not think the word like nazi is used to promote but due to it's famousity - people just know the word...

There was a designer getting in trouble, couple of years back, wrote " F.U.C.K China" on the "design T-Shirt", Philipp Plein his name, he wanted to promote his products essentially made in Europe, had to make plenty of official apologies and translated it to some thing innocent, took the dots as excuse... Made him lots of advertising free, but prolly not positive advertising... The guy is banned in China, or was...

Weirdest one I ever saw had cartoon birds and tennis balls on it and said:-

"Tennis balls don't make good bird food".

    Must have been Japanese.

I also get a kick out of the T-shirts in Thailand. I've bought quite a few for my brothers over the years. I've seen these in Thailand.

    This one is not bad..

Saw one the other day ( well 2 actually) on a young Japanese couple - obviously on honeymoon !

One shirt had a a big letter I with LO underneath it and half an offset big red heart
The other had a big N and VE underneath and the other half of the heart .
Strolling down the road with their arms around each other !!!

    Puke Puke !

All was better when they came back a little while later - they had changed sides and it made no f*ckin sense !

The surface indoctrination brought to the attention, a political philosophy. This was a notable scam. The deepest {insider} and darkest practice of 'Nazism' was that of an ancient mystical cult - not European derived.

If you can recall the original meaning, it means you are getting old sweet one.

Don't worry though, you'll never be as old as me.

In Pinklao a street vendor had one for sale that said " GET A DICK IN YOUR MOUTH" I never had the nerve to point out what this meant.

Saw it again yesterday (Surprisingly, no-one's bought it, yet ) and the black on the background is actually the emblem that I believe was on the Reichstag - the spread eagle holding the swastika in its claws. No mistaking the symbolism. Who would make something like that?
