There are plenty of problems in the US associated with illegal aliens, and I would love for something far reaching to be done and sustained to not only eliminate the flow of illegals but to eliminate their presence inside the boarders. And no I am not talking about reducing or eliminating emigration to the US - I am talking about illegal emigration.

The entire US system has failed miserably to address the issue and really shows no interest in addressing the issue any time soon. The boarders are more porous than a block of swiss cheese - no real effort on the part of the Feds to secure them either (both north and south). There is near no effort to make sure employers hire only those legally in the US, nor sufficient punishment for those that do hire illegals. There is little to no effort put into making sure folks that legally enter the US, actually leave once their visa has run out. Heck the stats of all the illegals in the jails only highlights the fact that the US government gives two tosses about the issue of illegals - many of those illegals are multiple offenders.

I would love to see something done to secure the boarders. I would love for the government to crack down on those that hire illegals - with real and meaningful punishment being doles out to them. And I am not talking about slapping the hand of the guys in HR or the guy who is running an individual store. Only if the owners and CEO's of business that hire illegals are held accountable for having massive amounts of illegals on their payroll will they start to give a toss. The HR guy and the individual shop owners are just as replaceable to the owners and CEO's as the illegals are. Accountablitily has to start at the top. I would love for the government to deport all of the illegals that are already in our jails (only a good idea if the boarders have been secured). I would love for the government to stop turning a blind eye to the illegals in the agricultural sector (and no I would not mind paying two/four/ten times as much for apples and the like at the supermarket). I would love to see some real effort being put into not only searching out the illegals that are already in the US but to kick their ass out as well (again not worth doing unless the boarders are secured).

But lets face it nothing is going to happen to do f'all about the situation in the US as it relates to illegals. The blue team is too lovey dovey and simply wants to give, give, give. And the red team wants to protect big business's that benifit from the low cost of labor by continueing to allow the illegal situation to go unchecked.

As for securing the boarders - we have plenty of troops in Korea, Germany, and in outposts all over the globe that could serve their country more effectivly by securing our own boarders before worrying about our interest outside of them.

Without LA county there might not be a state, but facts do actually pertain to the state, and even Siskiyou county, up on the Oregon border is full of Mexicans working in the replanting of the forests after logging and fires, and most are wetbacks and taking govt money thru a private contractor, but they do work for it tho, just like the 2% of the wets that pick the crops, they do work for it.
