^Never bought 1st or Business personally, the firm pays for it. Never would buy it myself, big waste of dosh - either use free upgrades with miles or the airline upgrades me for fk all. ;)
1990 Montrea to London
london to Montreal
both time upgraded business to 1st class. on BA
shite it was back then. about as good as economyis today witha bit more room. and people still smoking
I had a great upgrade to 1st class from London to Lagos
There was myself and another business man; there was also an airline guy with three stewardesses going to some show, and there were three stewardesses actually working. That was it. We had a party!
I've mileage points up my kazoo from Cathay, Singapore, and JAL. I upgrade every time I fly. All three of these premiere Asian carriers offer extraordinary fist-class service. Though the last few years, one notices the slight cut-backs here and there. :)
Spent half my life on Airplanes. But now I suffer from cloistrophobia, for some reason, so flying is something of a trial for me.
Last trip to UK I suddenly started to have a panic attack. So they gave me a pill and put me in a bed in the 1st Class compartment to sleep it off.
Tried it again on the way back to LOS. But all I got was a glass of water!!!!
TG upgrade to Business today on discounted ticket at the Gate. (TG Gold Card)

I've been upgraded a few times from coach to business class. Yes, you have to look the part. Dress nice. If you go in cargo shorts and a t-shirt, you ain't getting in.
Also, join their frequent flyer club. I've got about 4 different cards from various airlines, and I've got lots of miles accumulated on both Singapore (Asia Miles) and China Air (Dynasty). If you flash your card and ask politely, then sometimes they will upgrade you, or give you a serious discount on an upgrade.
I've got a folder full of letters from consultant Pain Specialists and boxes and boxes of morphine. Would a pained look and talk of " impending surgery" get me bumped up ?:ourrules:
Nonsense. One doen't have to dress the part to aquire a better seating arrangement. Cowtow to those corporate airline pricks....I'm upgraded to first-class everytime I fly. I'm dressed casually. Ever notice how many other elite first-classers never pay attention to this 'dress-code'?
never ever been on an aircraft:rolleyes:
never flown in my life:rolleyes:
Never eaten at Timbers either have you?:tieme:Quote:

Your being sarcastic now but you were just plain out and out lying in the other thread about visiting Timbas a few times.Quote:

Not at all true.
I had discounted ticket on TG from Shanghai to the UK via Bangkok for me and my wife (it was HEAVILY Discounted - I think something like "O" class.)
We couldn't check seats all the way through due to the flight times, and we were told to check in again at BKK for the London leg.
I went to the check in desk and asked it was possible to get an aisle seat near the toilets ( the wife was pregnant at the time and needed to piss a bit!)
The guy smiled and handed over a pair of business class boarding cards.
I could have kissed him, great the stewardess came around and asked about drinks, I was on JD at the time, and she later dimmed the lights, and left the bottle on the bar.
I demolished that, woke up in paradise, expecting to be arriving in London, and found I was half way acroos the Bay of Bengal...it's a long flight, but it did make it better.
Also, I was wearing jeans, and a T shirt - I reckon they had overbooked and had no where else to put me, 'cause to be honest, I wouldn't have upgraded me to business class!
Actually, Downgrades were available on TG.
I caught a flight out of Shanghai in 2002, to BKK, there were two guys in their business suits all smart and the like, with I "think" economy tickets, but again the flight had been overbooked.
They were forced to pay business class upgrades to get on the flight, with no seats left in Business, so they were made to sit in economy...their business class meals and drinks were brought to them in economy class...they were fucking livid, but I guess they needed to get out at a certain time, it was hilarious watching the stewadresses bringing them wine and "china plates" and real (not plastic) cutlery, while all around were eating the usual crap!
Just got my 1st upgrade on Wed, LHR -BKK. :)
I Was on a discounted ticket, I was wearing jeans and a coat from George of ASDA. Though a TG ROP gold member.
Asked for a window seat but she said all were taken and the flight was full, but see what happens when I get to the gate.
I got to the gate and she said 'congrats' sir you've just been upgraded to Business class'
I couldn't get on the plane fast enough, and couldnt keep the smile off my face once I'd sat down :) :) :) shame it was only an 11h flight :(
Qantas from BKK to London. Only 4 people in first class and 4 hostesses, so had one each :). Smoked salmon and champagne on freeflow for 12 hours was good.
