The best thing?........prolly not being in Australia,...............or is it the girls?

Whatever, it is a good thing being here, although my skin is grimy everyday.
Never used to get that in Pt Douglas.
Except for those days when I woke up face down in someone's garden.

Now if you lived in Mt Druitt, Sydney; Dandenong, Melbourne; Darra, Brisbane; or Elizabeth, Adelaide...I could fully understand your thinking Australia is a shithole well left...

But Port Douglas?

Not easy pleased at all...

My old boss in Pt douglas was from Mt Druitt. He said it was the biggest shithole in Australia, after Cununarra, of course.

No, I loved Pt. Douglas and if I had to return to Aus I'd like to think I would go back there. I know all the publicans well.

ps My home town is the adjoining suburb to Elizabeth in SA.

I have to agree with that one - it's the only thing I miss about the place though.

It's funny being back in the UK and seeing Thai looking girls speaking with Brit. accents -

I met up with Jon from Ajarn last year and he had his luk kreung daughter with him. She looks fairly Thai but she can't speak any of the lingo and speaks English with an Estuary/Naarfolk accent. Most strange. Confused the hell out of the Thais as well.

And what's wrong with western women ? they are fine too

You raise a good point here - one does/should realise how lucky we are to be born in well off families, having a white face is often a ticket to success - ( as opposed to growing up in subsaharan africa or a poor isaan village ) educated feed healthy.

I do often think of how lucky/privileged I am for all this....

but is the best thing about living in thailand ..... nah

for me ...

its career, weather, food, beaches, people, lifestyle, oh and woodcarving.
