Better Red Than Dead
Mellow Yellow
I just saw on another thread that an ABAC poll found that 58.4 per cent of Thai's said they will not take sides in politics. I think that there are many posters on this site who are also fed up with both sides and don't have a preference for either. It would be interesting to see an amended poll to take this into consideration and see the result.
A solid constitution with a clear and unambiguous separation of powers would do the trick. I believe it will come but not quite yet.Originally Posted by Texpat

^ I'm just so naive I guess.
Red simply down to the democratic process of them being twice elected
Oddly enough, and sadly in a Woody Allen-esque way, I agree with texpat verbatim.
Spot on, what more can you say? The 'reds' were voted into power twice. They were thrown out contrary to the people's wishes and are on the brink of the same thing again.
Those who do not respect the wishes of the majority of the population will eventually be taken to task for it.
I didn't put that option in there cause it would have made it the most boring poll in the world where everyone selects the neither option and then everyone slaps each other on the back, congratulates themselves on how much more intelligent they are than the protesters and it becomes ajarny. My interest here is in which way posters would go given only the two choices.Originally Posted by BKKBoet
It's a complex issue, but to simplify it I see it as Yellow - anti-corruption/anti democracy Red inherently corrupt/pro democracy. I'd think of a vote for yellow as being for anti-corruption, a vote for red as being pro-democracy. Which is more important?
^ The yellows are only anti-corruption when it suits their political purposes, so it comes down to a choice between democracy or an oligarchy.
Both points spot on, but isn't that what this is all about, with lots of empty space between? One side wants their pretend democracy back, while the other openly demands an oligarchy as its starting point. Then, how many steps from oligarchy to absolute monarchy? - fewer than from a pretend democracy, right?
If PAD get their way the corrupt practices they appear keen to eliminate will soar, because that's the nature of the beast, and it is not unthinkable for them to also give their detractors a victory something to consider before kicking off against the (now) legal gov.
Lead in the right ears.
