Me too. Con goes like this. We've all seen it.

Know it all (con) partner buys tables at 11,500 baht, gets invoice from seller for 25,000 shows to trusting partner. Trusting partner pays con partner the 25,000.

DD stays out of it, trusting partner eventually figures out the con. Blames DD, his friend, for not speaking up.

No win DD! Don't do it.

Do a swerve and bail. They sound dodgy to me.
I've seen this stunt pulled before.
The rogue invoice, under and over trick is very prevelent, although usually the mark-up is a bit more even-handed and not likely to arouse attention.
25k mark-up for 11k at wholesale or equiv? Insanity DD. That would be red-flags from jupiter for me. Walk away.
Usually you get the rogue quoting 25k say, but buying for about 20k ish.
The actual supplier is usually clued up to it. When the rogue gets the full payment.
He returns to the supplier and squares him away.

I once won the contract for sourcing and installing a bunch of PCs and gear for a dude wanting an office set up.
2 other expats gave a quote, I gave my quote and made sure I stuck pretty much very close to the baseline (suppliers quote). Cause the main reason he went for expats was (in his mind) they were less likely to pull 'thai moves' and maybe rig the invoices.
Well the other 2 tried playing the under and over fairly big and I played it mostly to the baseline. The reason I did some mark-up (on top of my fee) was the donkey work and to-ing and fro-ing back and forth.
Well the client did some checking of his own (as you have done with the tables) He figured out the wheat from the chaff pretty quick and I got the job.

So really the only people these two dudes are cheating is either each other or clients and each other sorta thing.
Maybe you should speak to this friend of yours and mark his card to let on your thoughts????

Never do business with friends or relatives (as was said before). Gives you leeway to offer advice to your friend in the future from a neutral point of view.
