Just what you would expect from a bunch of unapologetic brainwashed people.

But English is an international language and loads of non-Thai speaking foreigners will use it in Thailand to communicate, hence the need for English speaking personnel.

Your comparison using an English company as an example is surprising as they most definitely have Arabic, Urdu and all the other major languages spoken in England catered for.

Quite why you think they should have speakers of minor and uncommon languages such as Thai on hand is beyond me.
That is good to know that Arabic / Urdu / and other major languages are catered for by UK business, however, have you rang a Uk bank lately...the one thing they cannot do is communicate in English...maybe Urdu or Hindi, but not English!

The fact that AIS can communicate well in English is a bonus, try getting the same service in China, 1.3 Billion people and they cannot get anyone with good enough English to communicate on the phone, give credit where credit is due!

You seem to think that the whole world needs to speak English, what about Portuguese? Spanish, Esperanto...? And yes, as you correctly stated, it probably is "beyond you"

No I don't, but it is an international language. Thai isn't and never will be.

My Spanish is decent. It should be though, I used to live there.

Agreed, but given the limited education system here..what more can you expect? Parrot fashion learning, yes they can read English, but their Oral..for want of a better description is often lacking..AIS is pretty good where I am (Chiang Mai)

And sadly, I had to ring Lloyds... Lloyds of the Punjab by the response I got, much worse than AIS by a long way..they were completely incompetent or illiterate, and are unable to communicate with anyone as unfortunate as myself who has a "regional" accent! However, if you spoke English with a hint of "Madras" I am sure things would have been clearer.

At least you have a second language, most Brits can barely command the basic grasp of English, and as for the Yanks...welll..say no more!

The use of a second language when I was at school in the UK was actually laughed at..as if you were some kind of idiot.why on earth would you want to speak French for christs sake..no wonder we are the way we are!

At least these guys are trying.

And don't go nit picking at my spelling...I got an A at school(about 35 years ago) but I didn't have to contend with about three million little fucking insects inside my keyboard that cause the letters to fail...shit I have to retype everything about three times...it's an invasion...got to go and get the Mortein!

Well, the contempt, arrogance and rudeness that the people in the shop showed me ended in raised voices and the word "kwai" being liberally shouted.

Quite simply, they said there is no way that this could happen and they were not going to investigate it and would in fact just spend the rest of the day squeezing zits and trying to find split ends. They just kept insisting that all the people dialling my number had in fact all dialled the number incorrectly and miraculously all dialled the same incorrect number.

    Useless effing kwais.

Maybe you are banking with the wrong company, I speak to representatives of Lloyds over the phone on a regular basis, not one time have I had the problem of which you refer.
