Good going, CMN. (I'd green ya but I just redded you for a slacka** comment in Issues. Sorry.)
The chicks are interesting. A derivation of Modigliani but with eyes aand triangular faces. The second chick looks a bit cross-eyed. Nice bold strokes tho. Not keen on the Chinese ink - it's very flat-looking.
Not really into art but impressed by the effort - just don't get too fekin good 'cos I reckon it bloody hurts when you cut an ear off!
Well done !!
I like this stuff nooners, but to develop you need to think a bit less 'Matisse' (one of my faves) and sit back and consider your colour combinations.

If you were to silk screen prints of the originals I'd say they'd be of Warhol quality.
I am happy you have found a new hobby CMN
Most abstract painters, including the likes of Picasso and Mondrian etc, started out painting figurative works, they actually learnt to draw and paint properly and well, they learnt techniques and slowly developed their own recognisable style
you seem to have jumped in at the deep end, a bit like those elephants that paint in that camp up the road
I have reported your post
^ Yep. Years of doing lines, proportion, colour charts. And then you still don't make much money even when you move to abstract.
I like them Nooners, you've definitely got talent and if you put in the hard work I think you can get really good.
Great thing to do with your time, too. Respect (and some envy).
I'm especially happy with that nude one I've done.Originally Posted by Frankenstein
it's nearly complete and is much better than the others.
Jet is right about the chinese ink looking a bit flat...it's just a lot easier and quicker to sketch with and I've always been able to sketch quite well.
this is just the first time I've ever tried painting anything.
I have another larger one on the go.
i got my wife to take a pic of me slumped over the kitchen table and I'm trying to draw it in a bar setting off the top of my head, but i can barely remember what the inside of a bar looks like...(pious smug grin)
it's a bit of a mess at the moment but it's fun to try.
Excellent work there, Nooners.
Did you base your style on any other famous artist?

yes he did.Originally Posted by Thetyim

Them elephants paint some predictable shit.
They oughtta hand out brushes to the doped-up tigers at the tiger temple instead, I'm sure they'd come up with some spaced-out stuff.
nooners does not want too much competition.Originally Posted by Frankenstein
CMN, you should call the nude "Boob job gone wrong" keep up the good work!
In school art class we spent 2 years trying to go from black to white in 10 even shades and the tutor was never happy, never got to actually paint anything!

only 4 so far with another 2 half complete.Originally Posted by DrivingForce
they don't take long those abstract jobbies.
i'm doing a much more detailed one now and think it will take a lot of time and patience.
About time you slowed down a bit............
Start 10
come back to visit, and develop.
it's only for a bit of fun to be honest and to have something pleasant hanging on the wall (something I like to look at at least).Originally Posted by jandajoy
if i develop, that will be nice but i'm really not overly worried if I remain relatively crap.
First off great to see some creativity about this place.....................
It seems you have some natural talent there............
I am an artist, my dads an artist i can give you my impression and tips if you like?
