Instant coffee drinkers need not reply to this thread.

However, if (as it appears), you're snorting the ingredients rather than the more traditional 'dissolving in boiling water', we'd be interested in more feedback.

Instant expresso in a small cup = 2 heaped spoonfulls of Nescafe + 2 spoonfulls of sugar + boiling water, stirred really well can confuse even Italians. Believe me it works especially if the guests concerned have just wrapped themselves round the out side of a large lunch with appropriate libation.

Those little sticks of Mocca are fine for me and you don't even have to use a spoon just the empty packet.
    Hows lazy is that?
    Three baht each.
Why would anyone go into a Starbucks? Suckers.

I used to get Suzuki House Blend at Macro, but anymore I buy Suzuki Premium blend is about the best I can find.
I hate that Espresso grind shit as you get all the mud in your pot, but at home I drank Hills Bros. since I was 5 years old.
Very good in camp when just kids was there and boil it in a coffee can over a camp fire and have a cup with your morning hand rolled Bull Durham ciggy,, nothing like it.

When I took care of AA meetings at home I always bought Hills Bros coffee, it cost a ittle more than Folgers and other coffees, but still cheap compared to here, this is the most expensive coffee I have ever seen,, When I left the states to came here is 2001 I was paying less than $5 US for 3 pounds of coffee. here you pay that much for 1/2 pound.

And I think that all instant coffee such as nescafe should be dumped down the fucking toilet,, only a know nothing will drink that shit..

I've never 'got' coffee. I suffered terrible reflux and anxiety attacks/pounding heart after a cup plus it never energised me. Tea, however, is sent from above and a 20 minute brewed pot will keep me going for hours, especially green tea.

Only whale-loving tree huggers drink green tea.

Real men drink black tea like PG Tips or, Typhoo .

I think Marks and Sparks sell their own brand in one of the shopping centres opposite Siam Square. Still bloody common, though.

The missus gets some coffee from Laos and guests visiting always sing its praises.

    OK I've got it.

    I WILL NOT BE COMMON.
I WILL DRINK WHACKY, FANCY COFFEE AND TELL PEOPLE.
    HOW GOOD IT IS.
    HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS.
HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO BUY.
HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO MAKE.

And I will go and live on Lygon St. and abuse my body with the distilled essence of beans. Paradise.
Thank you all for my enlightenment, conversion and salvation.
Coffee ( flashy coffee - not amphetamines, tes, cigarettes, booze, or carrots) I'm on the straight and narrow now.

(Not bitter, just "freshly ground" )

I used to buy Suzuki espresso ground for filter coffee. Kept it in the freezer, same with the beans when I got a grounder. Thai, Malay and Laoatian coffee are all lovely, IMO. Kinda get used to adding sweet tinned milk to it.

These are the two main western coffees. Arabica is said to be much superior.

Arabica ...much more refined flavor and contain about 1 percent caffeine by weight. Because of its delicate nature, it yields only 1 to 1.5 pounds of green coffee per year. This is the coffee that specialty roasters search for. It accounts for about 75% of the world production. Because the arabica tree is susceptible to disease, frost, and drought, it requires very careful cultivation with just the right climatic conditions.

Robusta It contains about 2 percent caffeine. It bears more coffee cherries than the arabica plant. It yields 2 to 3 pounds of green coffee a year. This plant is used for the lower grades of coffee that are sold in the market. Although generally not found in gourmet shops, robusta beans are often used in the processing of soluble (instant) coffees and popular commercial blends.

I love instant coffee. Granted, it doesn't taste much like brewed coffee. But, as I've said before, you just have to think of it as a different sort of beverage. I happen to think that the Tesco brand instant is the best available here in Korat. I drink a big mug of it daily, first thing in the morning, with brown sugar and milk.

For breakfast, I brew a pot of the VPP Espresso.

Exactly. Instead think of it as a hot, brown caffeine delivery system.

Same with the canned ice "coffee". Not really coffee, but pretty good at times.

Not everyone likes the same things, thats for sure.

If all people were alike then there would be no use for that stinking shit the Thai call food, people wouldn't eat it and dogs will not eat it now.

When I was teaching in Korea all the K-teachers drank that instant Nescafe shit. There wasn't even a coffee maker in the staff room. After a month I got really sick of it so I went and bought myself a grinder, a french press, and 2 big bags of espresso blend from Costco. I've never looked back.

Here I do the same thing - use the press in the morning before work and bring a big ass thermos in. I also brought over Starbucks beans from the US: Espresso, House Blend, and Arabica.

I tend to buy the Suzuki brand as well (golden blend, I think - red packaging) - they are far better at coffee than at making cars!

I'm a filthy commoner when it comes to coffee. I like a nice brewed cup in cool climes but in Thailand I always grabbed one of the cheapo ice coffees (dispensed, not canned) from 7/11 or Family Mart. My favorite was the "Espresso Roast" at Family Mart.

Coffee has a nice taste but I avoid it as I have trouble sleeping at the best of times.
